Keeping Strong

I've come to believe that no matter how much I try to hide from it, I may not be able to escape catching COVID.

So Honolulu Aunty's advice about keeping our immune system strong resonates with me.  I'm hoping that by keeping my body strong I will be able to survive (e.g. not die from) the virus should I ever catch it.

Here are tips that I found online:

What can I do to keep my immune system strong during the COVID-19 pandemic?

  • Don't smoke or vape.
  • Eat a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Take a multivitamin if you suspect that you may not be getting all the nutrients you need through your diet.
  • Exercise regularly.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Control your stress level.
  • Control your blood pressure.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation (no more than one to two drinks a day for men, no more than one a day for women).
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Take steps to avoid infection, such as washing your hands frequently and trying not to touch your hands to your face, since harmful germs can enter through your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Jalna, huh? Don't let all the negative news get to you. There is no reason to think that you are "doomed" to catch Covid19. Are you stressing because you cannot avoid people w/o masks or not social-distancing? My neighbor's boyfriend who works in the trades, goes straight into the shower when he arrives home. His clothes get washed/dried right away. I had to keep reminding my brother to pull up his mask. Talking makes it slip around because he's an enthusiastic talker. I carry a multi-pack of disposable surgical masks. When I'm stuck with people who are not wearing masks or using "junK" masks, I will offer mines. No one has taken offense yet. This is all to point out that keeping safe means going out of your comfort zone, but is possible. I worked in the medical field & was exposed constantly to blood, body fluids and waste. Hated all the PPE but, you know, never got sick.
So keep trying and no despair! OK if you were just joking, oops now I shame. :) leaving the soapbox now.

Got to keep the immunity strong to mitigate Covid, add mediation to that model. At the rate of infection at above 10%, like sooner or later we'll get impacted, scary.

Praying we’ll all be safe from this.

Izsmom, awesome!

Kat, ho, I miss the hugs.

R, LOL, no I not joking, but I will keep on trucking and try not to despair. Thanks for the laugh!

Chet, you're right about meditation. I've been trying really hard to incorporate it into my life and it's helping a lot in calming my thoughts.

Susan, me too.

Aunty, LOL.
