Meet-up time was 8:00 a.m. on our second day in Japan.
Here are a few shots from the bus.

Our first stop was Kushiro Red-Crowned Crane Nature Park. The cranes were behind fences that had occasional pukas for you to take pictures through.

I actually thought this dandelion was more of an interesting subject to shoot.

Here it is after our failed attempts at getting pictures of dandelion seeds floating in the breeze.

Here's Washo Market in Kushiro.

There is a collection of over 60 shops within the market.

The most popular feature of the market is the Katte Don where you first buy yourself a bowl of rice . . .

and then walk along the rows of shops to select your favorite toppings.

You could also get sushi if you preferred.

There were lots of fruits.

Looking back at the photos now, I wish I had bought this dekopon orange to try. The 780 yen price is for a pair.

This is some kind of whale thing.

I bought a lot of dried seafood, konbu and other omiyage from here, but looks like I didn't get any pictures of them for sale. Bah.

I would eat too much at that market! All the food items look delicious.

We visited the crane park in Kushiro too. We stopped at Washo Market after for lunch. I tried the whale sashimi, it was okay. Topped off lunch with a ice cream cone. I remember that day as wet and dreary.
we loved the katte don here!
Yummy food post! The forest pic with all the same type trees haunts me. My brother told me stories about people going into a forest like that with the thought of not making it back out :(.
Izmom, LOL.
Chet, glad you got to go there too.
Kat, our Japan guide said that the seafood is the best in Hokkaido.
Susan, I heard about that forest. So sad.
your photos make me so excited to visit japan on day. thanks for sharing, jalna!
Gracie, welcome.
shucks, I too bad I wasn't there to do your action shot with the dandelion! I'm getting itchy to go back to japan...
Les, I have a feeling it has to be old and not stuck on good.
