Kanji Studies
I'm still only in the Second Grade of my kanji book. At my age, memorizing is so hard. If I take off studying for just a few days, I forget a lot. About once a week I go back to the beginning and test myself. That's why the stickies.
I find that a lot of times I'll know what the character stands for in English, but I can't remember what it is in Japanese. For example, you see no. 22? I know that it stands for "earth" or "soil", but I have the hardest time remembering that it's "tsuchi".
BTW, thank you again to my mysterious reader for the book. I'm making good use of it!

Good for you, Jalna. I think I'm at the preschool stage for kanji. I have such a bad memory!
J: I give you a whole lotta credit for doing this...in high school when it was time to learn katakana I gave up so I know only hiranaga.....Kanji is even tougher! Memorization, I asked my mom how she learned it in school and she said they had to remember, she said the Chinese are smarter becuz they use more characters than the Japanese. It's difficult enough steering through English with spelling and grammar even harder when there are thousands to remember. Good for you Jalna, you are one busy, smart lady. -N
I know that you mean, Kay. It's getting harder and harder to memorize.
Thanks N! So funny your mom . . . Chinese are smarter! One thing for sure . . . the more I study, the more confused I get.
that's how I read kanji, just by what I know it in English. so lots of times I don't know the true reading, just guessing what the meaning of the word kinda means.
Gambatte, Jalna!
That's good to know, Kat. It'll make my studies go so much faster if I can focus on what the kanji means and forego how to pronounce it.
Thanks, Aunty!
I give you credit for trying to learn Japanese.
Thanks Erick.
