This grocery store emphasizes local, organic, and health-conscious products. It carries a lot of options for vegetarians and vegans, along with meat and dairy. If this isn't the kind of store you want to shop at, it's not worth coming just to check it out. But if this sounds good to you, Kokua is the best grocer you will find.Kokua stocks local as much as it can. The produce is mostly local and/or organic, and terrific. I love that I can get grass-fed beef from the Big Island, and organic chicken. You can choose organic or non-organic for many things, especially bulk grains, spices, and canned goods. The cheese selection is better than some large supermarkets. The hot bar is great.Kokua is small, and that partly means the selection is smaller than other stores. I mostly notice that in bread, paper products, wine, and junk food, to be honest. I rarely feel like the options are too limited, and I also rarely overshop at Kokua (it's the anti-Costco in that way). I have to praise their beer selection, which is a microbrew dream in one refrigerator case.Kokua is also a co-op. You don't have to be a member to shop there, no problem. If you buy a membership, you get some slight discounts, the ability to buy some products in bulk (at bulk rates), and the option to work at the store to get significant discounts.

Hahaha, Didi, he was actually really nice.
This looks like the kind of store Gerry would like to shop at. Kinda reminds me of Whole Foods. Very nice store.
It's a really cute store, Betty, and I like them 'cause they let Prime paint on their walls.

Mmiissee, it's 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
