Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award

Kat from Our Adventures in Japan presented me with this Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award!! Thank you Kat! I love being a part of this blogger Sisterhood, a kinship of like-minded women who just like to share.

As part of my award I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself. In trying to come up with the 7 things, my mind kept reverting to memories from long ago. So I decided to share these memories.

1. One of my earliest memories is that of my father tossing me into the air, and my mom saying, "Stop it! You're scaring her." I remember being scared to death, but pretending to laugh because I knew that that's what he wanted.

2. When my sister Geri was 4 years old and I was 9, she found 2 dimes on the ground. She gave me one. When she realized that hers wasn't real and mine's was, she asked for the dime back. I said, "No." And I bought a Snickers.

3. When I was in the first grade at Japanese School, my deskmate stole my Cinderella watch.

4. I had just gotten done taking a bath, when I heard a noise coming from outside of the bathroom window. I was about 7 years old at the time. I stood on the toilet so that I could look out the window and see where the noise was coming from. All of a sudden the neighbor boy Jason's face appeared. He had climbed up the two stories to sneak a look. We both scared each other. He slipped and fell to the ground with a thud.

5. I hate to kill ants . . . as explained here.

6. When I was in the 4th grade working on cafeteria duty, I accidentally banged one of the cafeteria workers with a cart that I was pushing. She grunted and gave me a disgusted look. I felt so bad that I never forgot it.

7. My sister Didi's real name is Deirdre. When she was 4 years old my mom decided to teach her how to write her name. With so many letters to her name, Didi had a hard time. So when my brother was born that same year, my mom named him Cy.

Jason and Family

I've been trying to get photos of my coworkers with their families/significant others for a calendar that I'm putting together for my working place . This past Saturday I caught Jason and his family in my fastest photo shoot ever . . . it took about 5 minutes . . . and Jason lives about 2 minute away from me! Thanks Jason and Sharon. I really appreciate your taking the time for me.

Peanut Butter Brownie

This is what I got with my Zippy's Chili Ticket! You can get cookie dough now! Wendell chose peanut butter.

Last night at the spur of the moment I decided to make some Dassant brownies again. And this time I added in some of the peanut butter cookie dough to the mix. Sorry for this bad shot. I forgot to grab my flash and was too in a rush to go back to get it.

It was a great combination! Thanks Ross for the idea!

What Kind of Tree is This?

Awhile back I picked up Wendell after he had dropped off his truck at Goodyear on Waialae Avenue. I noticed this tree and can't figure out what it is. Anybody know?

Big Island Candies Manju

The next time you go to Hilo, I know you're gonna bring me back some Two Ladies Kitchen mochi. Thank you very much. But can I ask you . . . when you go to Big Island Candies, instead of getting me some chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies can you get me this? I don't know how much it costs though. They don't mention it on their site . . . must be really new. Tiare shared some with us at work, and it was sooo ono that for a little while I forgot my name . . . really.

Runa said that her grandma used to make a similar dessert back home in Indonesia called
Nastar. Maybe I should try making it myself. We'll see.

Casey

Casey is my coworker Lorna's niece. I met her and her family on the East West Center grounds yesterday to shoot photos for Casey's senior pictures. I've only done a handful of senior pictures so far, and I'm really getting to like doing um. It's so much fun. Know anybody who needs pictures? Let me know. I need the practice.

Thanks Casey for braving the ants and the mosquitoes. You were such a perfect model. I hope the red and green paint washed off your skin okay. Hahaha. I only noticed it when I was working on your pictures! Thank you mom, dad and grandma for the butter mochi . . . soooo ono. Thank you Darlene for being so enthusiastic when seeing the pictures on the camera. I loved your feedback.

Again, just like with Casey's cousin
Jasmine's pictures, I had a hard time narrowing down what to post, so I got a whole bunch here.

Carolyn and Chris Wedding - March 26, 2011

It was a total pleasure helping out Les yesterday getting photographs of Chris and Carolyn's big day. We started out separately with me going to Aina Haina to catch Chris getting ready and Leslie at the Ilikai with the girls. We met up at Kaimuki Christian Church for the ceremony and then off to Hale Koa for the reception. We met Makoto Kiryu, an awesome professional photographer, and Maya Kudo McCullough of Maka'ala Productions who are involved in putting together a Hawaii wedding article for a Japanese magazine. Chris and Carolyn are the sweetest, sweetest couple. I just loooved getting to know them and their families yesterday.
