Here's an egg beater. The blade part says "stainless". It's still in pretty good shape.

One day when Landon was about 8 years old, Wendell and he were outside in front of the house melting lead to make weights for fishing. I was in the living room watching TV. All of a sudden I heard a really loud "POP" and then Wendell screamed. In retrospect, my reaction was not one I would expect from myself. Instead of running to the door to see what had happened, I was frozen in fear. Isn't that strange? I always thought of myself as a helpful kind of person. I must be a helpful kind of person only if it's safe. I have a feeling that deep down inside, I must be a coward. I think that probably if I ever needed to run from danger, you'd better not get in my way 'cause I'd probably knock you down.

Some of your stuff does look like it's from the plantation village. Cool close up of the flash, at first I thought it was a cracked bulb but you really can see all that filament inside! nice! I would loved to see the kind of photo it took..
I think that flash bulb is so neat too. I really wonder what kind of pictures it took too.
How about Jalna's Plantation Village? You are off to a good start. I like the egg beater the best. Great photos!
Wow, Jalna, those Golden Wheat dishes go back a long time. I vaguely recall seeing those flash bulbs in my house growing up. If I remember correctly, the size of the pictures when they were printed were a square. Gerry would be very interested in the lanterns.
Erick, I bet you there are more old stuff hidden around this house.
You're right Betty, I got a bunch of those old square photos.
you got a lot of cool things! and although I don't know you personally, I don't think you are a coward!
So what happened outside with Wendell and Landon? you left us hanging there.... :)
We had a lot of Golden Wheat dishware too! Where was that from? A store promotion or was that the pattern people got for their weddings? My dad has all the old corning ware stuff too with all the odd colors - avocado, mustard, etc
Kat, thanks for having faith in me. I hope that if there ever comes a time when I need to act courageously, that I will do the right thing.
OMG josefina, I soo did leave everybody in the dark about what happened to Wendell and Landon. Sooorry! There must have been some moisture in the lead because it exploded and bits of the hot lead flew about, some landing on Wendell's clothes and worse yet, in Wendell's eye. Luckily, he didn't sustain any injuries and Landon was totally spared. Needless to say, that was the last time they tried to save money by making their own lead weights. Thank God!
LOL! Thanks for finishing the story, Jalna! Since I have seen current pictures of the 2 guys, at least I knew they were alright! :)
Thanks for reminding me!
My goodness you got a lot of "stuff" (I was gonna use another word, but it would've sounded rude!) :) lying around at your house! I thought Randy's grampa was bad...kinda neat that you found all that!
Uuuuu, I like see what Randy's grandpa has!!
