My nephew Daniel made this for our Thanksgiving gathering. It was one of the first things that I ate. It was as ono as it looked. Thanks for the recipe, Daniel!
Mix together: 1 block butter (1/2/cup) 1 8 oz. block cream cheese 1/2 cup sugar Add: 4 eggs 2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup milk Add: 1 box yellow cake mix 1 1/2 cup chocolate chip morsels Fill: 2 loaf pans Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes
Lunalilo Home held a Thanksgiving imu fundraiser. For $25 you can bring your foil-wrapped turkey, ham or pork butt and have them put it into their imu for you. They let me put an item in for free as a thank you for volunteering. So nice!!
Here is the imu being fired in preparation.
This is our finished brisket that Wendell chose to put into the imu! It was a hit at our Thanksgiving gathering!
Here are remnants of a slice of Wendell's fruitcake that I was enjoying yesterday. It's so ono that I decided that it was deserving of a repeat post. You can find the recipe in the original post from 3 years ago here.
I went to Mercado De La Raza on Beretania sometime last month and decided to look for hot sauce for Landon. The gal there recommended Matouk's. I bought a small bottle for $5.95. She said that she suspected I might be back for the bigger bottle. She was right. Lan likes it a lot. It's too spicy for me. A small dot on my tongue left it numb for a few minutes. I went back again yesterday to get a few bottles to give away for Christmas.
We've been going to Ressie's Kusina in Kaneoha every weekend since we discovered it. Can't help it. The food is so ono! Thank you, thank you, Sweetie for always being willing to drive. Love you to pieces!! Here are new items that we ordered this past weekend. Mongo Beans (small side order $3.75). Landon always asks for this so we decided to try. We were amazed at how ono beans could be.
Pork Guisantes (choice in a plate). Didn't disappoint. Sari Sari (stole picture from Yelp 'cause I forgot to take) ($9.50). You can't help but go, "Ahhhh!" after taking your first sip of the soup.
Sorry to be neglecting this blog. Nothing interesting to post lately. I decided to at least take these photos at the swap meet for you. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what these are.
I saw this boy at the Waialae Baptist Bazaar yesterday. He made me think of Kino. I gave him $5 to shop with. While I was waiting for Geri to have a $1/minute massage, he came by and thanked me for the money. He said that he got the Razor scooter with it. We talked for a bit, and he said that he was from Chuuk, the same island in Micronesia that Kino came from. I somehow already knew this. When we parted I hugged him (twice) and said, "Have a good life."
I found another YouTube artist that I like and made these cards following one of her videos. I used the water-soluble Neocolor II crayons that I got at the swap meet.
The artist is Shayda Campbell and here is the video.
Cleta and I had lunch at Thai Issan in Market City yesterday. We both had noodles. They were both good although mine was a tad spicy for me even though it was of "medium" spiciness.
I didn't take photos of the menu this time, but you can check it out here. Cleta's Look Fun Pad Thai with Shrimp ($12.95)
My Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) with Tofu ($9.95)
Cleta and I both made good use of the chopped peanuts that was on the table.
Kona's been having difficulty getting up from the floor lately. Our vet recommended trying some paw pad traction grips.
I got these from Amazon. They were $23.65. The unrealest thing was that I ordered them on Friday evening and they came on Sunday morning. Howzdat yah!!!
They are self-stick and come with a peel-off backing. You have the option to use it whole or cut to fit each pad.
I decided to try cutting them.
For a dog who doesn't like new things, Kona has adjusted well.
It seems to be helping, but unfortunately, after this morning's walk through some wet ground, some of the pieces have started to come off already. I still think it's worth it though.
Da sistahs and I were in Kaneohe yesterday to check out the First Presbyterian Church's annual bazaar. The bazaar was HAYUGE. The spacious parking lot was jam packed. We heard that before they opened the doors, the line of people waiting to get in had extended way out to the parking area. There was a rummage sale, craft items, jams and jellies, baked goods, plants, as well as food to eat on site. We were totally impressed. But the best best best best thing of the day was accidentally finding Ressie's Kusina. Ressie is the chief (and only) cook and her son Jun tends the counter. The food was SO ONO. This place would totally become our go-to place for filipino food if only it were closer to town. Waaaaahhh!
