The bulbul birds eat the chili peppers off of Landon's plant.
I got a paint-roller handle from the swap meet and hung my wind chime on it.
You can click on the photo to see a video of it in action. Do you think it'll keep the birds away or what?

do you have old cd or dvd? if you string them up, they work pretty well because of movement and light reflecting off the shiny side. I think home depot or amazon sells something very similar but why pay money? v
I save the bag from the long rice and put that over the peppers before they turn orange. So far it has kept the birds away. The bag is a pink plastic sort-of-mesh-sort-of-net kinda thing. The holes let the leaves/branches stick thru in some places so no need tie it to the plant. But sometimes the peppers will stick out from the holes. I guess not fool-proof. But it reuses the bag and is easy to do. And we eat pleenny long rice so I can put bags all over the plant. Works for tomatoes too.
I'm really sorry, but those birds are really smart. We tried all kinds of stuff and nothing worked. We're battling pigeons now on our solar panels and our ice pellets with sling shots seem to be working, but it took months. They get scared at first, but eventually they LEARN. Sigh...
Good luck! Those dang bulbul birds eat all my orchid buds. But then, it is my fault for using coffee grounds on my orchids and I killed most of them myself.
V, after reading your comment I went searching for shiny ribbon and found a star "lei" that's very glittery and reflective. It's dangling from the handle now.
Izsmom, I've seen videos of smart crows that can figure out how to get treats.
PlantMamma, thanks!!! Great idea! I don't have any mesh-sort-of-thing right now, but I'm going to Daiso today and will keep that in mind.

I wonder? These birds are sneaky and seem not to be afraid and find a way to eat at the fruits, peppers, flowers. It’s a never ending battle.
