Wendell's Steamed Spareribs with Black Beans

  • Wendell made this last night. The recipe can be found here.
  • The best thing about the guys doing all this cooking lately is that the freezer is getting cleaned out!!

  • 2 pounds pork spareribs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, peeled and minced
  • 2 Tablespoons Chinese rice cooking wine
  • 2 Tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 Tablespoons fermented black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped

  • 1. Rinse pork ribs and drain very well. Pat dry.
  • 2. In a bowl, combine pork ribs, Chinese wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, salt, and sugar. Stir to fully coat meat and marinate for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • 3. Add cornstarch and combine until ribs are coated. Add black beans and stir to distribute.
  • 4. Transfer pork into a heat-proof wide, shallow plate.
  • 5. Prepare a steamer by bringing about two inches of water to a boil.
  • 6. Place plate of ribs in the steamer basket, cover, and steam for about 15 to 20 minutes or until meat is no longer pink and cooked through.
  • 7. Sprinkle with green onions if desired. Serve hot.

Yum! I love spareribs! The last time I had it was from Zippy's but wasn't soft.

Reminds me of the dim sum I had in VA. Was it tender? I’m so used to cooking ribs for triple that amount of time to get it tender. We’re clearing our freezer too! Annnndddd using more dishwashing liquid because we’re not cooking normal stuff plus there’s baking going on too!

you're so lucky! Looks so ono.
Our chest freezer just broke Gaaaa! Been trying to cook some of the stuff in there but with only me Ken, our other freezers are crammed. Plus doesn't help when some pipple watch cooking channels all day and thinks he can make or do better so buys all this stuff but then gets lazy.

I love black bean sauce. I think I gained 10 pounds just looking at all the food Wendell, Landon and you (and Colin) have made since the stay at home mandate. LOL
      You are blessed.

      Aunty, awwww, bummahs.

Susan, I actually didn't get to try it. I'm kinda the leftover eater and we have so much of that in the 'fridge right now.

V, noooooo! You sound just like us . . . "freezerS". Wendell buys meat for the freezer all the time. I think he doesn't remember what we already have in there.

Izsmom, I suck at cooking, but yes, the men in the family are great at it. I do feel blessed.
