My friend Chet emailed this photo to me and I love it!!
I busted out my sewing machine yesterday, and I made this mask. Cute fabric, yah. I got it for Christmas from my nephew Daniel's wife awhile back.
I'm still tweaking and I have a bunch of requests to fill, but I need more pellon. We'll see how it goes.
Kona woke me up at 2:30 this morning and I couldn't go back to sleep because of . . . you know . . . all the stuff on my mind. I feel kinda out of it right now . . . But anyway . . . stay safe peoples!
SO cute and useful! After the video you sent out about wearing masks, I definitely am making them - and wearing them. I have yukata fabrics that would look quite stylish and be comfortable.
j: you and Kay are so creative. Luckily 2 years ago I bought disposable masks, no idea why and am using them. I went out to town for the first time in close to a year. Damn so many are empty and everyone's business is down. The store I wanted to go to has now closed, specialty store. sigh. I stopped by Gulick Deli and it was empty though there was a steady stream of customers. I'm so glad I'm retired now. God bless, you and yours take care -N
I have a few cloth masks that has a pocket on the inside from my sister, to put Kleenex and as a filter. Everyone's getting a kick out of the Hawaiian Airlines pic.
I've been tweaking my masks too. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of fabric and my daughter is telling me NOT to go out shopping. Soooo...she's looking through her sewing things and says she'll send me her scraps. There are so many ideas about the best way to make a mask. It's hard to know what is best. I had to order more elastic, but it won't be here until end of April, coming from China.
N, scary times right now. You take care too. I think about you always.
Chet, thanks for sending me the easy mask-making video.
Kay, the hardest part for me is the supplies because I don't go out. But I'm so so so so lucky to have friends who brought me some. One friend dropped off a spool of elastic and Honolulu Aunty gave me some pellon, elastic cord, her favorite mask pattern (with instructions) and bunch of other stuff. I'm so grateful.
With your sewing skills, I'd suggest creating a space where users can insert a filter. This woman from Korea made a great video about making masks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOe_8z8k01U&feature=youtu.be&t=40 In the description area, she provides information about getting quality filters from a Korean source that ships to the US. Just food for thought.

Kat, thanks.
Everyone would be wanting one, or, 2 or more of your masks!
Susan, thanks!
