My mom brought a bunch of old photos to my house today, and I especially wanted to share this one so that my cousins who read my blog could see it too. This is actually a portion of a much larger photo that was taken at my mom's mom's funeral back in 1960. I remember back then asking my mom if I should smile for the photo, and she said, "No." I remember trying my best to look sad.
That's me circled in red, my sister Didi in yellow and my mom and Geri in green. Doesn't my mom look so young? She was 26 at the time. On the left side are my relatives from my dad's side, the Kiharas.

I love these old photos. Isn't it amazing...looking at old photos I can just imagine being transported back to that time and what was going on all around that little snippet of time. It's weird, but its like a movie that plays in my head.
Imagine what people 50 years from now will be saying about our photos that we take today.
I love them too Yosh. I think that's a big part of why I enjoy taking pictures . . . it's the recording of time thing that's so cool.
I've always wondered why they used to take group photos at funerals. Everyone used to do it, but how come they don't do it anymore??
You should see the photo Les. It's so long . . . maybe 4 times longer than what I have posted here. I wonder if it's just too humbug to take pictures so they don't do it anymore.
yah, all of my mom and dad's ones are suuuuper long too! Can you imagine shooting one of those?!?
My mom has a picture like that of my grandma's funeral. I should go look for it and scan it to preserve it. Thanks for posting this.
love this! thanks for sharing.
No Les, I cannot imagine trying to organize the people for the shot. And it was film. And panorama.
Good idea Erick. This picture was kinda bust-up where it was folded.
This is an amazing photo. I love looking at old photos, too, and trying to figure out who everyone is. You and your sisters were such sweet girls!! And your mom, a beautiful young mom. I was a senior in high school in April 1960. :)
Aren't old photos so precious, Betty!
Glad you enjoyed it Kat!
