Whenever I go to Kaimuki Crack Seed Store to pick up my Li Hing Ginger I make sure to also go across the street to Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery to get some malasadas for Wendell.
Lately, I haven't been too much into malasadas so usually half a piece is good enough for me.
The last time that I was there, the gal mentioned that their ice cream desserts are popular in the evenings. I wouldn't mind trying the Malamode. It's a made-to-order "hot and crispy outside with cold and creamy inside" malasada with an ice cream filling that sells for $6.50. Only thing, it's only served from 2 to 9 p.m., and I'm never out and about at that time. But we'll see. Maybe someday.

Oh my looks onolicious, but just looking at your pic and reading about the Malamode makes me feel like I gained 10 libs. I too don’t like to be out and about from late afternoon, too much traffic! LOL
Oh, good and sinful stuff! I am proud of that shop - one of the owners went to Kalani High School - not the other private school that seems to put out entrepreneurs.
Did you know Zippy's has good malasadas? Different from these in that it is more bready and tastes good cooled off. They also have this other one with mochi inside. Totally bad, right?
Pipeline Bakery is a fave.I use to always stop in there after eating pho next door and eat one malasada.I decided to take a break eating it.You know the saying "familiarity breeds contempt",didnt want burn out on it.Last week, had one,boy was it delicious. Met the new owners of Kaimuki Crack Seed, nice pake ladies.
I love malasadas, but just buy them on Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras). There's a Leonard's Bakery in Pearlridge, actually a food truck in the parking lot. David will buy 6 malasadas there today.
Nice to know other places that sell malasadas. I pass Leonards Bakery everyday and the line is always out the door. I'll try Pipeline and Zippys. Thanks for the posting! ~e

Oh wow! That makes my mouth water!
We used to have good malasadas here but the company closed down. I’ve seen them again at the mom and pop store but it’s not as good.
E, and Leonard's parking lot is horrendous. Hope you get to try Pipeline and Zippys.
Kay, LOL.
