Honolulu Aunty can't bear to throw away well-made boxes, and knowing that I feel the same way gave me a box like the one below to recycle.

I wondered if painting the box would work, and it did! I was pretty surprised at how it came out.

The bottom of the box is black so I decided to go with a black theme for the top.

I first painted the surface with Liquitex Black Gesso.

Then I brushed on some of the metallic inks that I got from Ross.

Here's the top.

One side.

Another side.

Thanks for the box and the incentive, Aunty!

This is totally gorgeous!!!
Oh!!! Nice!!! And you are welcome!
Turned a throw away into a work for art. One person thrash, is another person's treasure.
j: I feel the same about boxes AND nice shopping bags w/ rope handles. I kept them but found out it's a wonderful nesting site for roaches so now I use 'em for my non-wet trash cans. I L O V E what you did to the starbucks box, but what you going use 'em for. Gorgeous -N
So pretty!
I kept a couple of those boxes but just the bottom...I wished I kept the top. Never knew how pretty it could turn out.
looks like it is lacquered, pretty!
Jalna, I really like how you transformed the box. Nice choice of colors on the black background. It is now awesome!!!
