We had a little time to spare after checking into our hotel in Sapporo before we needed to meet for dinner so we decided to try and venture the labyrinth of the JR Sapporo Station to find Kinotoya Bake. I had read about Bake's cheese tart on Kat's blog post here.
Armed with a map and info provided by a sweet girl at an Information Booth on the basement level of the station, we were able to find it.
I was so stoked to be standing in front of these tarts.
The texture and taste were beyond delicious . . . the filling so smooth and creamy with the perfect amount of cheesiness . . . the crust not really flaky but more like a cookie. I loooooved it. I only regret that it wasn't possible to bring some home to share. I hope that someday you will get to try it.
Here are the directions coming from the Daimaru Department Store. We started from the basement level (star), went up the stairs to the first floor, turned right at a huge souvenir shop with a big Kiosk sign, went through a narrow alleyway with lockers on both sides and BINGO!

Yummilicious!
Very yummilicious, Kay!
Ho! Bugga looks so ono! Japan pasteries are the best.
Looks like that new small camera worked well.
Amazing how such a wonderful place exists and is almost hidden - after an alleyway of lockers? Wow, good hunting!
The tarts looks so Onolicious. In Osaka, you have to try Pablo Cheesecake, it looks very similar. Japanese desserts are Da Bomb.
that looks yum! was it better than the Osaka tarts?? I know not the same kind but ...
Dean, I agree about Japanese pastry!! I'm happy with the new camera.
It was like a scavenger hunt, Aunty.
I did try them once, Chet . . . kinda by accident. We were passing by and I bought ONE and halved it with my friend. I've been wanting to eat them again ever since.
Les, the taste of the Osaka one is kinda faded from my memory. I remember that I liked it a lot and dreamed of eating it again, but I can't compare anymore. This Kinotoya one was SUPAH, SUPAH good to me.
glad you got to try:)
So happy that I did, Kat!!
Susan, the crust is like a sugar cookie but not as sweet . . . more buttery!!!
Their cheesecake is amaaaazing. I waited almost 2 hours n line when they opeed in hong kong an bought half a dozen. .. which I ate all by myself 😀
Ahahahahaha, tofugirl . . . if we weren't about to go out to dinner, I might have done the same!!
Wow, looks fantastic! I love to try it but I don't want to wait 2 hours though.
I hope you get to try it someday, Akemi!
