Wendell wanted to test out a new crock pot that he got from Costco so he chose this recipe from the Delectable Bakehouse website. You can check out their step-by-step directions here. It was fall-off-the-bone tender.
- 4 Tbsp Hoisin sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp grated orange peel
- 2 Tbsp ginger
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 6 green onions, sliced
- 1/2 tsp Sriracha hot chili sauce
- 3 lbs pork spare ribs
- In a bowl, combine Hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, orange peel, ginger, garlic, about 3/4 of the green onions and Sriracha.
- Spoon enough of the mixture into the crock pot to cover the bottom. Top with half of the spare ribs.
- Spoon some more of the mixture over the spare ribs. Top with the rest of the spare ribs. Spoon the remaining mixture on top of those spare ribs.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Serve over a bed of Jasmine rice and sprinkle with reserved green onions.

Ha! That's the same one we have, but nothing as delectable as Wendell's spare ribs every came out of that! Gotta try that recipe.
uuuuuuuuuuu good excuse to bus out the crockpot!
Your timing could not have been more perfect! I keep seeing all these slow cooker recipes and have been considering a purchase of one....this recipe might be the kicker!
Try using these for your crock pot. Cleanup is so much easier & Longs always have then on sale for around $2. Ribs look good Jalna. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00578EKRY?keywords=crock%20pot%20liners&qid=1456266754&ref_=sr_1_5&s=kitchen&sr=1-5

This really is my all time favorite crock pot feast!
I also used to make it in my Mom's oven when I was a teen. I would stab it, put the smoke flavor, add the Hawaiian salt, wrap in ti leaves and tie with string. And cook slow overnight in my Mom's oven! HO! Da whole house always smelled so good! ; )
And total fall apart porky goodness! ; )
It was ono, Kat!
Mark, Wendell did um already. Check it out: http://jalna.blogspot.com/2015/09/wendells-slow-cooker-kalua-pig.html
Oh thanks Jalna. Now I remember. I see I even made a comment there. I hope that wasn't an old timers brain fart that I forgot! ; )
Looks amazing!
I'm on the diet(sort of...). I try to loose at least 5 pounds before going to Japan.
I would like to have this tomorrow....
LOL, Mark. I have chronic brain fart.
Akemi, I'm so excited for you! I'm totally ready to go back to Japan again too!
I used our crock pot once and haven't tried it again. I'm such a terrible cook.
