Lately I've been into making fabric flowers for headbands like this and like this. A few days ago I went to Fabric Mart and bought me some remnant fabric. I coulda got away with spending only $13 except that there was this silk fabric that was soooo pretty that I ended spending an additional $7 for just the 1/2 yard of silk.
I decided to go to Kam Swap Meet today to see if I could find some embellishments to go with the pieces that I plan to make. I hadn't been to the swap meet in years, and today's overcast skies made it a very comfortable outing for me. I got there at around 7:30 and didn't leave until around 11:00.
I took kinda a lot of pictures so you'd get a feel of what the swap meet is like. Most are shot from the hip as I didn't want to draw attention to myself . . . or get scoldings.
The guy who was selling this sprayed people who stopped by his tent. I loved the smell. I walked closer and was tempted to buy some . . . until I saw the price . . . it was between $30 and $40 a bottle. I quickly walked away.
I didn't understand this sign.
This guy was looking through some baseball cards. He picked quite a few. I didn't hang around to find out how much they cost.
I'm not too stylish myself, so maybe I shouldn't criticize, but is this not ugly?
A lot of the tents had Bath and Body stuff. Wonder how they get um . . .
There were a lot of people just standing around under this lunch wagon's tent. I wondered what was going on until a guy asked, "Are your BBQ sticks pau?" The man answered, "Two more minutes but already got around 25 people before you waiting."
So of course I had to get a shot of the sticks. They were $2 for one.
Me and my siblings used to get dirty linkins from my mom with hangers like this.
Here are a few of the stuff I got today. I bought the lechon for $8. I don't know how much a pound they were. The guy said, "Which one you like?" and I pointed and he said, "$8." It was maybe a pound. This plate I got for 75 cents!! Whata bargain yah!
This bowl was 50 cents. The pearls (from a different seller) were also 50 cents. When I asked the guy who was selling the bowl, "How much?" He said $1. I'm thinking, how can I pay $1 for this small bowl when I just paid only 75 cents for a much larger, nicer plate. So I just nodded and put the bowl down. He said, "Okay, okay 50 cents." Boy, do I know how to bargain!
These cards were 25 cents each. The matching stamp I got from a different seller. It was 50 cents.
These two puzzles were $1 each. I got the Rubik's cube 'cause I like prove to Leslie that I can solve it.
These feathers I actually got from 3 separate sellers. They were about $4 total.
This bracelet was $4. Isn't it pretty? I'm thinking of separating the panels and making something with them.
I think some drunk Millefiori glassmaker made these. I still think it's pretty even though most of the flowers are misshapen. It was only $1 so I bought it.
I bought this for Leslie. So cuuuuuute. It was $10.
This string of beads was $4.
This one was 50 cents!!
I offered 25 cents for these and the guy said okay.
These earrings were missing the other side so I offered the lady 25 cents each for these too.
These were going for $5. One had a broken clasp, so I offered to buy the broken one for $2.50. The lady said I could have them both for $3 so I bought um.
Now, I wonder if I'm actually gonna make stuff with the things I bought or they're gonna end up taking up space in my just cleaned out closet.
