Wendell and I went to the Koko Marina Chili Cook-Off earlier this evening. For $10 we got to taste five different chilis. You could also purchase more scripts if you wanted to taste more than five. About fifteen different restaurants participated.
We got there pretty early, but it was already kinda crowded. The lines were actually not long at all though.
There were a lot of fancy chilis like this one that had a cornbread pancake and a cheesy rice cracker. And this one by Willows Restaurant . . . that had a couple of pieces of short ribs plated under the chili and a taro croquette on the side. Would you believe me and Wendell voted for this plain-looking French Country Chili . . .
done by Hank's Haute Dogs. It had duck and pork stew in it. Ono chili.
oh, that sounds great! thanks for the info on hanks; must have passed it a hundred times but i don't think i've ever been there; gatta check it out; have u seen their web page?
Awww man! We were bummed to find out this was happening while we were gonna be away. Randy loves chili and he would've loved to go. So who won? Or did you blog it and I wasn't paying attention? hahahaa!!
OMG ... CASSOULET !! My favorite...ALL, Hank's was just recenlty featured on TV Food Network's Diner's Drive In's and Dives...Glenn goes there almost every Sat, in fact, we just had lunch yesterday !! Try their truffled mac & cheese. Hey, who won ??
Les and Didi, me and Wendell couldn't remember the name of the restaurant that made the first chili in this post, the one with the cornbread pancake and rice cracker. They're the ones who won and now I know . . . Beach House at the Moana Surfrider!
