Is it only me or did the past year just whiz by? It went so fast and . . . I'm still here blogging. 10 years of blogging. Crazy. I think I'm gonna cool my jets from next year and not post as often, but I've said that before, so we'll see, yah. At any rate, this is my last post for 2018. I'll be taking a break. But I WILL see you again in 2019. Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SAFE AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR!!!
This was kinda easy and fun to do. The hard part was doing the words. If you have some watercolor paints, go try. If you no more, email your mailing address to me at JalnaA@aol.com, and I'll share some dots from my Daniel Smith dot cards with you.
My friend, N, went to Daiso and sent me these photos!! I'd been wanting to see what the inside looks like. Thanks, N!! Here's what she said:
Went to Daiso this afternoon about 3 pm-ish, short line in but to check out huge lines. It's a small store and certain sections were emptied out. Everything is $1.50 and some things higher. It's just regular dollar store stuff that Don Q and Marukai have had. I think great for a college student cuz they can stock everything cheaply. Daiso had tons of Croc like shoes that I guess no one wants to buy and a small garden section. I think I waited 15 minutes in line. Line to check out.
I finally cleaned out our container drawer(s) and matched up the tops and bottoms. These are gonna get trashed because they didn't have their matching half.
I joined my former coworkers today for a potluck lunch at my old working place. I've been retired for over a year now, but look what I saw hanging on the wall. So "Awwwww" yah!
I took this photo last month. The crane that's lifting stuff was so huge that it blocked off most of Ward Avenue. This is across from where Sports Authority used to be. Kakaako's changing so much that there are a lot of places that "used to be".
I don't own a wallet. Instead I use a zippered section in my cross-body purse (more like a pouch) to store my money. The other day I was straightening out a $10 bill while checking out at Whole Foods, and I tore it completely in half. I told the cashier, "OMG, I can't believe I just did that." She said, "What happened?" I showed her. She calmly took out a tape dispenser and while taping the two pieces together said, "To tell you the truth, it's a first for me too." Who DOES stuff like that? Me.
A very strange thing just happened to me. I was driving to Waimanalo to pick up eggs when all of a sudden I felt as if I didn't quite know how to drive. I didn't know where to focus my gaze or how to judge my speed. Maybe it was the earliness of hour or the windy road or the low sun in my face. Not sure.
I decided to stop hoarding my James Burke washi tapes and finally busted each out from their packaging. They're so pretty that after I got them I ended up not wanting to use them.
I laid strips in my art journal as a keepsake and am now finally putting them to use.
I went back to Bakery & Table in Times Kahala the other day. I walked back and forth trying to decide which pastry to get until I finally decided on a half loaf of the raisin bread ($7). Toasted and dabbed with buttah . . . was so ono!
I noticed this at Longs the other day and thought it was most intriguing. No? I've seen expensive canned abalone in a locked display case before, but this is not-that-expensive corned beef being secured behind the checkout counters. I can't figure it out. Plus, if someone were to try and steal some corned beef, how many cans could the person hide in their clothing without it being noticeable? Maybe it's a lot of people stealing one can at a time. Makes me wonder . . . Also noticed Tulip Jamonilla on the shelf below. Didn't know what that was. Had to google it when I got home.
Pomai of Tasty Island did a Jamonilla review earlier this year. You can check it out here.
I got this 10-card pack at the swap meet for $1. I loved the feel of the paper . . . like washi. I imagined I could make Christmas gift tags with them. Each card was simply a sheet of the washi paper folded in half. It was perfect.
I was able to cut 40 pieces from the cards.
I even cut up the envelopes.
I glued the pieces onto card stock and folded them in half. Then I punched holes in each and added a gold string. I got the string from Fisher. I think it was $1.79.
My mom wanted to check out the 30%-off Christmas gift bags at Fisher so after picking up her medicine from Tripler yesterday we went to Fisher's Mapunapuna branch. I knew that these fountain pens were on sale at Fisher and I meant to look for them the day before when I was at the Kakaako store, but by the time I remembered about them my basket was pretty loaded and already contained over $50 worth of stuff. And so I decided that I really didn't need another fountain pen . . . even though these were COLORED fountain pens, and I didn't own any COLORED fountain pens. It's funny when you're in the same store but it's a brand new day and you're empty handed and you haven't spent any $$$ yet . . . spending $5 something for three pens seems like such a small amount. So I got um.
I like the vibrant colors.
And the smoothness while writing.
Got all kine colors. Go. Buy. Good stocking stuffer.
I'm kinda into brush lettering although no matter how much I practice I still suck. This Tombow Fudenosuke set is on sale at Fisher this month. I wrote about the pen before here, and was excited to learn that they now make it in different colors.
Fisher is selling the set for $14.95. It's actually selling on Amazon right now for $28.90! I think it would make a good Christmas present.
This is my favorite glue to use when I make greeting cards. You only need to use a little, and because it's more rubbery than liquidy it doesn't warp paper.
It's also on sale at Fisher this month.
Another good deal was this Faber-Castell water-soluble colored pencil set which I got at Ross for $11 (including senior discount). It's $24.87 on Amazon.
