Corned Beef Thieves?

I noticed this at Longs the other day and thought it was most intriguing. No? I've seen expensive canned abalone in a locked display case before, but this is not-that-expensive corned beef being secured behind the checkout counters. I can't figure it out. Plus, if someone were to try and steal some corned beef, how many cans could the person hide in their clothing without it being noticeable? Maybe it's a lot of people stealing one can at a time. Makes me wonder . . .

Also noticed Tulip Jamonilla on the shelf below.  Didn't know what that was. Had to google it when I got home.

Pomai of Tasty Island did a Jamonilla review earlier this year. You can check it out here

I noticed that too. It’s so sad. But there have been times when I was ar Longs, Safeway and Times and while in line, I hear a commotion at the exit and there is a shoplifter with items in their hands scuffling with store personnel to get out that door. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Good thing I don't care for canned corned beef - except in corned beef hash patties, yum! I know Samoans used to love corned beef - but that more expensive brand that I think came from Australia. I went to a Samoan Filipino wedding years ago and that was the gift of choice along with lots of shouting about woven floor mats. It was a super interesting wedding. Sadly the marriage didn't last.

Since I can be politically incorrect (because this isn't my blog, lol), I am guessing that the Micronesians are the ones with sticky fingers. It is a sad clashing of cultures with them transplanting themselves here.

Hi Jana, cans of corn beef are nothing for a thief, How about car batteries?

One major supermarket here puts lemon powder at the customer service booth. Lol. I guess it’s all the kelaguen we make on this island that makes lemon powder a precious commodity. Hey. I buy tulip here because for one, it’s a lot cheaper than spam and two, it’s less salty. Good with fried rice 😋

I remember one year that brand of corned beef was hard to come by...

j: saw a vid last year of a west side longs where they stole cases of that stuff and got away w/ it, heard spam and corn beef are used to trade for drugs since those 2 items are quite desirable here. All this on stolen stuff hawaii FB, that's how I keep up with what is "trending with the criminal elements" besides cars and home invasions. It makes me paranoid! -N

Yes, it's sad if it's thieves. Now if they're stealing Spam, that's desperate. Have to be grateful for the the things we, lots of people going through hard times.

Aunty, unfortunately I think so too.

Holy cow, Anon!! Two!

Susan, never heard of lemon powder before!

Kat, I kinda remember that too.

N, I don't do FB too much, but I think that the stolen stuff site is probably a good way to be aware of what's happening with the crooks.

Chet, that's so true.

Mark, I tried the other-variety Spam before but didn't care for them. So now I just stick to the regular plain kine.

Les, unreal to me that they gotta keep um safe.

It's like Spam, people use it to barter. Spam gets stolen a lot.
