Mattress Tag Police

I was taking off the bedsheets one laundry day when I was a kid, and I accidentally tore off one of those Do Not Remove tags.

I didn't wanna tell my mom because I knew that being the honest person that she was, she would turn me in to the Mattress Tag Police.  So I taped the tag back onto the mattress, and I didn't tell a soul.

Every so often I would check on the tag to make sure that it was still being securely held on by the tape, and if any of the tape needed to be replaced, I would do that.

I think it was years before I felt safe from being hauled off to jail by the MTP.

I wonder why they do that - and pillows too. That would be a good Stephen King book - the mattress policeman.

Hahaha! Memories of hanabata days. I too thought I would be arrested and thrown in jail if I cut or tore off the tag.

Too funny. I used to worry about that too long ago. It says "By consumer" now? It's about time.
