Coworker Michele gave me two persimmons. Can somebody tell me the best way to eat it? I have no clue. Do you eat it crunchy? Let it get soft? Refrigerate? Do you eat the skin?

I've only had cookies made with persimmons...don't have any idea how to prepare them...
peel the skin, and the seeds, eat as is.
Cookies Betty! How interesting.
Thanks Kat!
This type you eat it crunchy. eat it cold, like a apple, peel the skin and watch for the seeds
Thanks SUPrman. I'll put it in the 'fridge now.
OMG !! I miss my students. One of them every year would come with a case of them, sent from his grandmother in Japan. We loved to make persimmon ice cream !!!
Whaaa? First Betty with persimmon cookies, and now you with persimmon ice cream. I never heard of such things.
I love persimmons..I'm so glad it is the fall season when they're plentiful. I like them when it's a little more soft..but they don't look as pretty w/ black spots on them.
Ahhhh, thanks Shun Wah.
crunchy, sliced, with li hing powder on top! yum! :) What is the japanese word for it? Kaki?
Oooooh that sounds good Jos. I think you're right, it's kaki.
It's good in a salad too! Kind of tomato-y.
Hey, great idea Mariko!
