A couple of weeks ago Leslie shared this onolicious shoyu miso pork with me. She said it was really easy to make. I shared some with coworker Sam. We both loved it and Sam asked for the recipe. I told her don't worry, I'll have the recipe on my blog. Ummmmm, I think Les forgot. Helloooooo . . . Les . . .
Update: Leslie sent the recipe!!! Thanks Les!!
Miso Pork Roast
5 lb pork butt 3/4 c miso 1 piece ginger, mashed 1/2 c sugar 2 cloves garlic mashed 3/4 c shoyu
Mix miso, sugar and shoyu thoroughly in a large pot. Add ginger and garlic; mix well. Place pork butt in pot and simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hrs until done. slice and pour sauce over. Leslie's instructions: moosh all ingredients in a bowl (except the pork butt of course...), and dump it over the pork butt in the crock pot. Cook on low for about 8-9 hours. I actually put mines in and it was frozen solid. I set it on 9 hours just in case.
Oh my...looks fantastic...so easy too. I'll be trying this...I bet starting the roast while it was still frozen made it super tender. Oh, miso comes in a powder form, right?
Hahahaha!!! That was so embarrassing... I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. I have definitely come a long way since then and cook one to two times a week now. I'm making mochiko chicken tonight for dinner!

Taryn, I'm so proud of you! I, on the other hand, still suck at cooking.
