Dog Biscuits

We ran out of dog biscuits. I ordered some from Amazon, but it won't be here until Thursday, so I made some with the ingredients that I already had at home.

It was the first time for me, so I wasn't sure how it'd come out.

Turned out good. And main thing is Kona likes it.

Here's my revamped recipe:  2 cups flour, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 2 eggs, 1/4 cup (+ few more sprinkles) water, fish jerky. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Landon's Noodle Scramble

Landon made this concoction the other day using some Mi Goreng noodles.

He placed some prepared noodles into a frying pan with diced spam and eggs. After the eggs and spam cooked, he flipped the whole thing over and topped with some sautéed cabbage and watered-down oyster sauce for flavor. Then he garnished with Japanese mayonnaise, some sriracha and furikake.

It was winnahs.

Bibigo Pork Mandoo

Yesterday I made the Bibigo Pork Mandoo that I found at Palama Market earlier this month.

I placed the frozen mandoo into a pan and fried all three sides.  Then I put about a spoonful of water into the pan and covered for about a minute or two so that it would come out gyoza-ish.

I ate it with a bit of V's So Damn Ono Sauce mixed with a few drops of perilla oil. I liked it!

This is the perilla oil that I bought at Palama Market back in the day when I used to leave my house.

Our Washer

Two days ago it broke.

Wendell went to Best Buy and was greeted by a sales associate . . . outside. No one was allowed inside. I liked that.

The sales associate said that Wendell needed to order a new one online. There would be no installation, delivery to the door only, and no haul away of the old machine. All understandable, except I wish they would take away the old machine.

New machine comes today . . . sometime from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

It's 6:49 a.m. right now. The guys are still sleeping. But I've been up since 5:00 a.m. so I'm ready.

Wendell's Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Wendell said that he didn't add anything . . . just wrapped bacon around asparagus and then broiled.

Amazon Delivery

Mailman brought this at 7:00 pm last night. It was actually scheduled to arrive today. Can you guess what it is?

Toilet paper!!!  I was so happy that it didn't get highjacked somewhere along the way to my house.

I ordered it last week Thursday when Wendell said to check if Amazon might have. I was so surprised to see that they did have their house brand available. Only thing, I had trouble getting it into my cart. It was glitchy . . . the page freezing slightly . . . then saying "unavailable" . . . then not letting me finalize. But I kept trying.  It was a if I was virtually fighting with other people for the toilet paper.

And then I won! LOL. 30 rolls for $19.99.

Right after "winning" I tried again. It had become "backorder" and then "currently unavailable". It's been "currently unavailable" ever since. But I figure they must have supplies coming in, no?

BTW, how many sheets do you use?  I use two. Unless . . . you know . . . no can . . . .

TMI, yah.  La la la la la . . . . (fingers in ears) . . .

On Da Desk

How are you guys doing? Staying safe I hope. Being cooped up is okay with me because staying at home is my favorite thing anyway.  Unfortunately, I may have developed an agoraphobia.

I miss shopping at Ross the most, but just the thought of possibly catching something frightens me. Wendell even had to pick up my medicine from Longs for me. The furthest I've been for over a week has been to the mailbox.

The upside is that I've been drawing and painting a lot. It's so fun and relaxing to me.  And luckily, ordering supplies via Amazon is still easy.

Anyway peoples, hang in there. Much love and peaceful thoughts to you.

Whole Foods' Support for their Employees

This is from the Whole Foods website:

How we are caring for our team members

Our team members are our top priority, and we’ve taken the following steps to support them during this time of uncertainty:
  • All part and full-time hourly team members at Whole Foods Market stores and facilities in the U.S. and Canada are receiving an additional $2 per hour on top of their current hourly rate through the month of April. In the U.K., part-time and full-time team members in our stores and facilities will receive an additional 2£ per hour through the month of April.
  • All part and full-time hourly team members at Whole Foods Market stores and facilities will receive double their regular hourly base rate of pay for every overtime hour worked in a work week from March 16 – May 3, 2020.
  • All team members placed into quarantine or diagnosed with COVID-19 will receive up to an additional two weeks of paid time off, as announced by our parent company, Amazon.
  • If they are unable or unwilling to work their scheduled shift, team members have unlimited call-outs during this time.
  • Like our full-time team members, all part-time team members are eligible to accrue paid time off.
  • We have increased funds available through our Team Member Emergency Fund, which is available to all team members faced with an unforeseeable emergency or critical situation. Amazon has committed an additional $1.6M to support the fund, bringing the total to $3.34M. Every additional voluntary donation to the fund by a team member will be matched 100% by Whole Foods Market.
    • Since it was started by team members decades ago, the Paid Time Off Donation Program has helped thousands of team members in times of crisis and need. It’s one of several resources — including company-funded programs — that are always available to to support team members. The program is voluntary, and the company has not proactively solicited team members to donate in response to COVID.
  • We have asked team members to cancel nonessential business travel (both domestic and international).
  • We support team members who have jobs based in our regional offices and global headquarters to work from home if they are able.
  • We have increased sanitation and cleanliness protocols in meeting rooms, team member gathering spaces and office workstations across all stores, offices and facilities to promote a conducive work environment.
  • While it is not currently recommended by the CDC, and the guidance is to preserve these resources for the medical community and those caring for the ill, any team member who wishes to wear a mask while working may do so.

Vriksasana Posture Back Support Belt

I occasionally suffer from lower back pain, oftentimes brought on by fits of coughing, which is what happened to me recently.

Many years ago I bought a back brace. It was not comfortable, mostly because I'm fat and short-waisted, but it was the best I could find at that pre-Amazon time. It was over $30 . . . not cheap.

Recently, the velcro on the brace stopped gripping, and even though I sewed on new velcro strips it just wasn't working.

I went on Amazon and found this belt. It's made by Vriksasana Posture and was $24.99. I WISH I HAD BOUGHT IT YEARS AGO. It supports my lower back exactly where I need it (not from just below my chi chi's down to my butt like my old one did) and is extremely comfortable.

I bought the regular size which turned out to be perfect, with extra length in case, heaven forbid, my hips should expand any further. If you're in the market for a back-support belt, go check it out. I highly recommend it.
