I feel like eating chow fun now. And it's because of my classmate Edwina.
She shared the following pictures, and here's what she said:
"I have been on the hunt for my favorite chow fun from okazuyas. Here's my pics.
My favorite is from Toshi's. Their noodles are thinner than the others.
I have yet to find the chow fun noodles I like from a Chinese restaurant. Lately most use too much bean sprouts & onion but not enough noodles.
If you can duplicate the taste of Toshi's or any other chow fun, please share."

I used to love the chow fun at Patti;s Chinese Kitchen at Ala Moana, so whenever I was in Honolulu I would go there. The light went out of my world when Patti’s left Ala Moana.
That's funny because I like chow fun with lots of veggies, especially beansprouts! I don't like too much noodles, LOL

Ohhh!!! I love chow fun! The chow fun from Royal Kitchen is pretty decent. Although it’s been awhile since I last ordered from there. Many, many moons ago, Kaneda’s in Nuuanu used to have delicious chow fun.

I'll keep my eye out for the place that's the holy grail of chow fun for you.
LOL! Good reason to go out and eat! I sorta like St. Louis delicatessen's chow fun noodles but gotta eat them hot. And every other Thursday, at Fishcake's revolving chefs cafe, there is a Thai lady Madermama (or something like that) that has flat Thai noodles so tasty - very chewy and stretchy and onolicious.
But I must admit, my favorite is homemade Hula brand chow fun noodles stir fried with spam and onions and little bit shoyu at the end. Trouble is, SO much work to boil and drain the noodles because I am SO lazy.
J, I understand Edwina's plight. I do like Gulick's cuz they use MSG. Very tasty, but most chow funn taste so bland. Safeway Beretania has a daily hot Chinese buffet and their noodles are very tasty plus it's per pound so can pile all kine toppings for a tastier one. My quest is for the best fried saimin. And no Leeward Drive Inn is not that good, no matter what Yelpers say. I read Jenny's column and she mentions she buys fresh noodles from the noodle factory cuz they get different sizes?? Unsure if chow funn though. Isn't it all in the flavoring though.-N
all look ono :)
Lorna, I kinda forgot about Patti's. I used to like there and . . . sheese . . . what's the name of the place we used to get pastrami on rye from?
V, LOL, opposite from Edwina.
Izsmom, I looked up a picture of Royal Kitchen's chow fun on Yelp. The noodles have a charred look. Looks ono!
Chet, 😁
Aunty, good to know about Hula brand. I think my fave would be spam and onions too.
N, I had good fried saimin from someplace that surprised me. Was it Zippy's? Hmmmm. . . .
Kat, they do yah!
Jalna, it was Lin’s Delicatessen. Another great place to get sandwiches back in the day!
Lorna, that's right!!! I just couldn't think of the name.
Hi Jalna, Toshi's days may be limited, Thomas (son of owner) said depends on if building owners sell, then they would shut down. Mich
Mich, thanks! I'll let Edwina know.
