I joined Erick yesterday at a Model/Photographer Meet up. I didn't stay for the full session (I pooped out fast), but it was fun meeting and talking with the other photographers.
Mostly everybody, except for me, had an arsenal of equipment, accompanied by a lot of know-how.

Even Erick brought his brand-new reflective flash doomahichi thing.

I felt a little out of sorts, not because my gear in comparison with everybody else's was meager, but because I forgot to bring my flash. Believe it or not, flash is your best friend when shooting people in bright sunlight. It helps remove any harsh shadows and equalizes too much backlight.
Shot in the shade, this is my best photo of the day.

fun!
Kat, I kinda miss it. And I kinda don't.
Good composition!
Too much equipment, I lazy. Thank God, smart phones camera pics are pretty decent.
OK! Does she like older Haole Dudes! ; )
.
Aunty, you noticed the triangle composition!
Chet, I agree . . . makes my back hurt just by looking at all that.
LOL, Mark.
holy crap he's hard core now! Good thing I never went. I woulda felt out of place too...
Beautiful photo Jalna!!! Wow, Erick's reflective flash!
Les, I think all that heavy-duty equipment is a guy thing.
Thanks Celia.
Glad you hard fun, too bad you left so early. I like see the photos you took. No worry it's the photographer not the equipment that make a good photo.
Thanks for inviting me, Erick! And for the push to get off my butt. My photos were okay, but lacked the "pop" you get with flashing.
