The crowd at Tsukiji was massive. There was no way that me and Landon were gonna join in.
So, after taking this shot, we both turned completely around and headed in the opposite direction . . .
where shopping for some tea . . .
and tsukemono was less chaotic and a whole lot more enjoyable.

j: that's what I found claustrophobic about Japan, the sheer number of people. I literally got the screaming mi-mis one time cuz there was such a crush of ppl out on the sidewalks...then the shoving and pushing. Guess things still haven't changed. -N
Tsukiji was an experience,but I prefer the smaller fish markets like in Hakodate or Nishiki market in Kyoto(??).

oh yah, Nishiki Market seems worse! Past several times, could barely walk through. Lucky I'm big so I can just push my way through.
Was curious, how or what type of tsukemono did your son bring back? Don't they smell really strong? Maybe because I love barazuke, the white, drier type that really is pungent! So ono.

V, too bad about Nishiki Market being crowded. I liked that place. I'll email you pictures of Lan's tsukemono.
Nishiki Market in Kyoto wasn't crowded for us. Kuromon Market in Osaka was a little bit more crowded but not enough to not enjoy good eats! We went a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. Weather was perfect too. Not too cold.
