I scored this CD for 50 cents at the swap meet. I first discovered the musician Kitaro a couple of years ago when I was searching for music to go along with a video that I did showing a caterpillar turning into a cocoon. I chose Kitaro's Aqua. It matched perfectly. You can check out my video here.
My favorite song on this CD is called Matsuri. Here is a YouTube video of Matsuri being performed live.
I am trying to be healthy - eat healthier (just a bit at a time), think healthier, and live healthier. One of the things that I KNOW I am lacking in is exercise. Too lazy and I set at the computer way too much. Now if I play Candy Crush Saga I have to stand up (or I lie on my stomach on the bed, lol) and I use up my 5 lives pretty fast but at least I am not sitting.
So, when this post came in, I thought I'd give it a listen, and so glad I did! The long haired Japanese guy reminded me of my friend's son, Keaoloha, the poet, so that was kinda funny. Then, as the music began, I told myself to stand up and move. So I was waving my arms and moving like an idiot (nobody watched so didn't count) and THEN I started to do some TaiChi moves - the ones that I could remember, and it was like BAM! when Bingham cherries meet Laughing Cow cheese. A perfect coming together.
I always thought that TaiChi needed music. It is SO sloooooow and rather boring and to tell the truth I don't feel the Chi, but I go through the movements. It wasn't enjoyable but something that I wanted to do for my physical health since I don't like aerobics or high intensity stuff. For my own old lady health future, I wanted to be like those people in Hong Kong that would be in parks and on the mountains, all doing TaiChi with the same movements at the same time, in the privacy of my home.
Now, you have given me incentive to go back to TaiChi classes and learn the whole routine and I can do the TaiChi without the need to be perfect and boring, to the beat of this music!!! It will be something that I will look forward to it and perhaps I will look less idiotic because it is sorta choreographed with traditional TaiChi steps and order.
Lorna, never heard of hm so had to check him out. Whoa . . . I agree.
Totally, Cloudia!!
Aunty, good idea! Where did you take classes at? Me and Geri been "talking" about doing it. But I don't think I can. I'm too impatient. BTW, you had me smiling throughout your whole comment. I could just picture you and your moves.
Jalna, I just signed up for the Monday beginner's class at the Kapiolani Women's Center on Beretania near Hawaiian Graphics. Kinda expensive - $55 for 6 classes, but the teacher Gerri is really good and super nice. Embarrassing to say, I used to go and I think it was for about 4 years, and I still nevah learn even half of it! She is going to laugh when she sees me.
Anywho, the next session for beginners starts on May 2 and ends on June 27. Looks like they are taking 3 weeks off in between. Here's the website link to register: https://www.hawaiipacifichealth.org/kapiolani/health-wellness/classes/class?id=6418
Would be good fun if you join! I even have an extra pair of shoes that were a little small for me - size 7 if you need!
Thank you Jalna for sharing this! The original drummer was on his knees pounding his drums. Showing us all that this is a very spiritual song. As it is! I loved it.
Actually Jalna, there are a couple of free TaiChi that I heard about. On Wednesdays afternoons at 5:00 at the archery range part of Kapiolani Park , Dr. Greg Yuen leads people every week. He is a psychiatrist that looks little bit like Kwai Chang Caine of the Kung Fu series from long time ago. Also Kahala Mall has free TaiChi early in the morning 3 or 4 times a week but I never went. Too early for me and I heard you don't really get lessons, but you just follow along and watch the person in front of you. So, if the person in front of you is doing everything wrong, you will be doing it wrong too. Hmmm. Maybe that would be fun....
Kwai Chang Caine! Hahahahaha! Funny, Aunty! I kinda like da kine with no lessons and you just follow along . . . not so intense that way. I tend to pressure out otherwise. I suffer from performance anxiety. And cannot beat free.
thanks for today

Glad you enjoyed it, N!
I can see where this would be fabulous music for a video.
I just saw Aunty's comment. I'm going to tai chi tomorrow. Hmmmm.... I haven't really felt the chi quite yet. Maybe this change of music will help.

This is totally awesome! I've seen it before. And it stirs the soul!
Kay, you do tai chi too? Wow!
Aunty, you work so fast! That is expensive for me . . . I'm so chang. But I'll check out your link.
I love the song too, Mark.
