Lan's Oyako Donburi
Landon threw this together the other night in the awesome Zojirushi electric skillet that I just bought. Lan always just "eyeballs" his ingredients so I don't have a real recipe for you.
He sautéed some sliced round onions in oil and then added about four sliced chicken thighs. Then he threw in bamboo shoots, mushrooms, konyaku noodles, tofu noodles, dashi, some water, shoyu, brown sugar and some of that sukiyaki sauce that I got at Marukai. When everything was mostly cooked through he added about a dozen beaten eggs and covered the pot until the eggs were done. Was some ono.

Comfort Food!
Totally, Cloudia!
Looks so GOOD!
Mich, I ate it for dinner that night and for lunch and dinner the next day!!
The first time I went to Japan was in 1970 on a college tour. I must have eaten oyakodon almost everyday for about 50 cents a bowl. The yen was 360 to $1! It was amazing! I loved it. Looking at your yummy photos bring back the memories. I still haven't managed to duplicate the flavor, but yours looks heavenly.
The three of you should be on a Hawaii version of "Good Eats" or something; everything looks oishii, and there's such a variety!
j: so lucky to have two good cooks in da house. Looks so ono too.-N
lucky you not dieting anymore!!
That is the coolest skillet I have ever seen! Good find!It almost looks like a mini crook pot, but with multiple awesome uses! And the meal looks awesome! I watched the videos of it at your Amazon link. A little pricey though to me.
mmm!
Kay, the first time I went to Japan was also in the 70's on a college tour!

I clicked on the link and I saw it's on sale (w/prime membership).
I think thats a good deal, instead of paying the original price.
