I got this painting at the swap meet for $3 from a cute ojiisan man who only spoke in Japanese. The canvas is small . . . about 8 x 10 inches. I was totally intrigued by the colors and the technique, probably done with spatulas and not paintbrushes.
Please let me know if you can figure out who this artist is. I asked Mr. Ojiisan, but he didn't know.

$3? Wow! You really do find the most incredible bargains. One of these days Honolulu Aunty and I need to go with you to one of these sales just for the fun of it.
It's a different kind of shopping, Kay. It's easy to miss bargains. Lots of times you just gotta be lucky.
Very interesting art work Jalna. After college from 1976 to 1980 I worked for a art sales company based in San Diego. Our family friends from Hawaii owned it. It was called Crossroads Gallery. For four years I drove the big 18 wheelers pulling a high box 45 foot long trailer full of framed oil painting. Every weekend I was in a different city doing art sale in hotel ballrooms. All 48 mainland States, including 6 months all across Canada and 6 months in Australia. The most fun and exciting time of my life! I love oil paintings and art. And I sure know a good one when I see it. And those are awesome! You got a steal! Even back in the 1970's I could have sold those for $250 bucks Plus!

Google has dropped the price of the Nik Collection, a suite of seven desktop plug-ins aimed at advanced photographers, from $149 to nothing. The Nik Collection first came under Google's stewardship when the company bought German developer Nik for its mobile editing app Snapseed; Google later dropped the price from $499.95 to $149.
The Nik Collection has since grown from six to seven plug-ins. It includes Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro, and Dfine, all of which work in Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture. You can grab the collection here, and anyone who bought it for $149 in 2016 will be automatically refunded. The move does suggest that Google isn't interested in supporting further development of Nik's software beyond Snapseed, but hey — free is free.

Great find! One of my goals in life is to take up painting. Now that I am grown up, it is time to learn - after the house is tidied.

The owner of Crossroads Gallery was our good lifelong family friend Bill Stone. He owned Crossroads Gallery. My Dad went to college with him at Nampa Nazarene College after WW2. Bill Stone owned Wigwam Quality Furniture. Then later my Father Marvin Shelby bought the furniture store from Bill and turned it into The Marsh Company Home Furnishings.
I later became the Vice President and Operations Manager of the Marsh Company. I'm so proud of my Father!
