When I was in high school and let's face it, even now, I stunk at math.
When I wasn't required to take anymore...

If you ever go to Fukuoka, then you can buy those mochi at this store. I hope my link works. Actually, you can buy them anywhere in Fukuoka, but this store is right next to the Hotel Nikko: https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&fb=1&gl=us&cid=4202800275355969206&q=ホテル日航福岡鉄板焼・銀杏&ei=0MHEU8X9K4ScjAKWzID4BQ&ved=0CKQBEPwSMAs

so much good stuff!
j: showed mom your oages. She was curious about J-Shop cuz she listens to KZOO every morning and they always advertise but no one ever talks about the prices. Told her it ain't for anyone solely on social security.
We oohed and ahhed over the pictures. She said callers say not only their beef is good but so is their fresh fish.
I had her read what was on the mochi. Well the fancy calligraphy refers to a very old song something about a mountain then the mochi. She said the words are old so she couldn't understand them.
The pkg with the black label said Tsakushi Mochi, she thinks that's where its made or made by.
Then the type was Kisaragi An, she thinks a type of an(black bean).
Some of the words were old so she didn't understand them, she said they don't use that kind of words any more.
She does have dementia and she is having probs w/ Japanese sometimes so take this with a grain of salt. She can't read certain words or she forgets her characters.
I think we'll check it out one day, but told her to save up first! lol Thanks much, this made my mom's nite. -N
WHAT. $500 bucks! I think I would splurge on what you did too. The marbling really does look amazing!
Ooooooh, good to know, Anon. Thanks!!
I know, Kevin!
But so expensive, Kat.
N, I went again yesterday and it was pretty crowded. I was wondering how people were finding out about the place. Can you do me a favor? Can you show your mom the picture with the meat that says 30% on it? I'm wondering if it's 30% off the price because it's soon to expire. Thanks!
It was good, Jenny! I hope you get to try some.
Ohmygoodness! I will never pay the kind of money on the dead meat....unless someone buying for me. Seriously wrong pricing do you think?
The tiny package is kuromitsu - brown sugar syrup I think.
Thank you Anonymous, I'm going to Fukuoka next month, I definitely check the store out.
j: corrections: 'oages' is pages. 'tsakushi' is 'tsukushi' and it does refer to the place made.
Yes, forgot to mention the 30% off price but the photo had cut it off so she couldn't read it all. We were wondering if it was an add'l 30% off or the price reflected the 30% already.
My mom has a slight vision prob (glacoma) so the page gotta be really big to read on my laptop. I tried adjusting my screen but then the words fuzz out. If you ever want her to translate Japanese for you, center the pix and make it as large as possible.
It's funny becuz my mom was reading the sign over the store that has all those kanji and she's saying words I don't understand - it was a long phrase. So I turned to her and said what does that mean. She says I dunno. LOL Oh great. She said Store. LOL We both laughed.
Yes the store is heavily advertised and many many callers ask where is it. She says their promo says they have lots and lots of parking. Through-out that 10 a.m. call-in show their promos run a lot.
Since most of the listeners are my mom's generation I told her I don't think local Japanese are gonna spend that kind of money. So I was thinking of Japanese expats living here would pay that much since you gotta know what areas are famous for what. She said that Hokkaido melon is famous and right now is selling for $100 in Japan.

I know what you mean, Akemi. So expensive. Thanks for the translation. You're going to Fukuoka? So lucky!!
Hahaha, your "store" story is funny, N. Thank your mom for me for the translation.
Wow, Wagyu! I going buy. I think Kobe beef is from Wagyu cows.
Oh I want to walk over one day during our lunch break, I want to get the mochi!
Mich, I did go back to see if maybe they might've discounted the price, but they neva. And got less boxes, so people been buying um.
I think you're right, Erick.
now i'm bummed you never find this out earlier :(
I knoooooooow, Les!!!
What's the address of this shop?
Myko, I think the address is 1513 Young Street. It's where L and M BBQ Drive In used to be.
