I was in Keeaumoku Market and saw this container of Fukushima peaches. Anything Japan related always catches my eye. I had never heard of them before, so I whipped out my phone and googled it. Isn't that so amazing? I still can't believe that we can actually do that.
It turns out that Fukushima is known for its peaches . . . except that that's where the stricken nuclear reactor is, and even though their fruits and vegetables have passed inspection recently, the public is still afraid of contamination. You can read more about it here.
These peaches had a teal-colored label that says California and USA on it, so I realized that they were actually "Fukushima" peaches grown on the mainland. I bought a container.
The container was scotch-taped shut so I couldn't inspect the peaches too good. When I opened it at home I saw that every single peach was bruised. This particular piece is bruised on the bottom . . . but still . . . look at it. Doesn't it look so pretty?
It's soft . . . not crunchy. And sweet sweet sweet. Peaches 'n Cream! Soooo ono.
The peaches probably woulda fared better if they were individually wrapped in those styrofoam protective thingys, but woulda probably cost buku bucks then. Even though they were bruised I'm so glad that I bought um.

J: Mon. is my town day so IF I can find EZ street parking I'll go Keeaumoku Mkt again. I say EZ cuz I no can parallel park either. If I no can reverse very well there is no way I can parallel park either. But the peaches look tempting - let's light up the night -N

N, I usually park in the lot that has an entrance on Liona Street. It's behind the Menchanko Tei Restaurant. It's still very tight, but it might be another option for you. Good luck!
After reading this, I feel like I must to go to store to get some peaches. I hope I could find Fukushima peaches.

Mmiissee, I usually like crunchy fruit, but these peaches were so sweet, I made an exception.
I'll go check them out. Got to find my Geiger counter first.
