Funny thing happened last Saturday. Me and my sisters were staring at that thing in Pearl Harbor and we totally missed the entrance to the Kam Swap Meet. We were walking and talking and pointing at the thing, and all of a sudden we were like, "Hey, where are we?" Even the policeman who was directing traffic laughed at us.
Do you see the cars exiting? It always amazes us that even though we usually arrive at around 7 am or earlier, there are always people who are already leaving.
As soon as we got there I bought this ottoman thing. It was only $2. I thought it would be great to use as a prop on a photo shoot. Plus I figured I could also store things in it. Good idea yeah? Only thing . . . it was a major pain in the butt lugging it around with me. And guess what kept happening? Every time I put it down so that I could check out something, somebody would start inspecting it. Instead of saying, "Sorry, that's mine.", I shoulda said, "You can have it for $5."
Didi spent quite a bit of time inspecting this cute bumble bee outfit. She never bought it even though the seller brought the price down from $5 to $4.
I can't remember if Sweetie ended up buying this or not. It was $2.
Me, Sweetie and Didi chipped in $5 each to buy this Baby Einstein DVD set. We gave it to Geri for her first grandchild, a girl due in September. A girl!! Me and my siblings only got boys. She already has a name . . . it's Harlow! A girl!!
Dallas cap - $5.
Love, love, love the plates!
One more for my collection - $1.
I loooooooove this vase. It looks a bit fragile, but it has a nice weight to it. I bought it for Sweetie. It says $4, but the seller said I could have it for $1.
She also sold this Mikasa bowl to me for $1.
So pretty.
This was only $2.
These soup spoons were 3/$1.
Here's Randy.
This wind spin thing was $1. Sweetie decided she didn't want it and as soon as she put it down somebody else grabbed it.
This old-school thermos jug was $7.
These apple mangoes were 50 cents each. I never heard of apple mango before.
This truck had the coolest paint job.
thanks for today

wow! lots of stuff you guys got!
Good post!
You must have a lot of cabinet space for those plates.
Speaking of plates, your dragon plate came out NICE!
Kat, we gotta go on Hoarders pretty soon.
Thanks Dean. I guess I should go pick up my dragon plate some day.
great shopping day for you girls!! What is that thing at Pearl?
Betty, Didi sent me this info on the ball thing:
Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX) is a floating, self-propelled, mobile radar station designed to operate in high winds and heavy seas. It is part of the U.S. Defense Department Ballistic Missile Defense System.
The Sea-Based X-Band Radar is mounted on a fifth generation Norwegian-designed, Russian-built CS-50 twin-hulled semi-submersible drilling rig. The hull was originally built at Vyborg Shipyard, hull number 101. Conversion of the vessel was carried out at the AmFELS yard in Brownsville, Texas; the radar mount was built and mounted on the vessel at the Kiewit yard in Ingleside, Texas, near Corpus Christi. It is nominally based at Adak Island in Alaska (though, as of April, 2012 has never put into port at Adak) but can roam over the Pacific Ocean to detect incoming ballistic missiles. The vessel is classed by ABS and has the IMO number of 8765412.
Interesting!
What nice sister bonding ... swap meet and lunch every week! BTW, pretty soon you sisters can have your own swap meet (hehehe). Congratulations to the Kihara family ... a baby girl! Sooo happy for all of you ... your Mom and Geri must be tickled pink!
never heard of apple mango either...looks good though and cheap too = )
Thanks Renee! We are so tickled "pink"!
Hey, howzit Mmiissee!
Haha...my dad was telling me about the "golf ball" a couple weeks ago. He said that it is a super radar that is probably here in Hawaii due to the increased nuclear activity in N. Korea. Supposedly this radar can detect almost immediately when a missile is launched. I'm not sure if the smaller "golf balls" around it are the other part...but something like there are these guns that can fire of an INSANE amount of bullets in the direction of the missile to blow it up. Neat...but is it all true? Dunno...my dad likes to talk. hahah!
I sooo believe your dad, Yosh!
Dang, Sarah and I gotta hit the swap meet up. Looks like so much fun!
I think you guys would have good fun, Aaron.
