We took him to the vet this past Saturday for his annual checkup. She recommended that we get blood work for him so that we can establish baseline findings. She informed us that from next year, he would fall into the "senior" category. Senior!? Already!! How can that be?? It's too soon. Waaaaaahhhhh!!
She called a few days ago and told Wendell that the blood work results came in. She said that he was "doing good for his age". I wish she hadn't added in the "for his age" part. Why couldn't she have just said, "He's doing good."? Why did she have to say, "for his age"?
I decided we should take him out for walks more often . . . to get him healthier . . . if not younger, at least healthier. So as soon as I got home from work today we went out. I'm gonna try and take him walking everyday, probably in the mornings. Maybe Wendell can still continue to take him out for short walks in the evenings. I feel veeeeeery motivated 'cause it's not for me this time. It's for Kona . . . my bestest buddy.

Senior!?! Mick is 2 years older than him!! :( Kona and Mattie must be brothers. They like to bully us around when we take them for walks :). I see Wendell likes his vibrams! haha!

Walking your dog is the best thing for your family and the dog :) I take mines out twice a day and he is 11 this year :) although is a smaller breed than yours.
The other tip is to make sure your dogs teeth are cleaned. As they can become ill otherwise.
