Spam and Beans

My sisters still nevah send me their recipes yet so I'm gonna show you this gourmet dish that I made. Wendell found the recipe on KPOA radio station's website in a section called "Sistah Val's Honey I'm Hungry". I lucked out 'cause the beans were on sale at Foodland for $1.49 a pound and I bought about 1 1/2 pounds. Otherwise it would've cost me almost 10 bucks for the same amount!! Coworker Runa said I should get them at the farmers' market.IMG_4403a

First, brown cubed spam in about 1 Tbsp. of vegetable oil. Then add the cut up beans and 1 Tbsp. of oyster sauce (I added more 'cause it didn't seem like enough).IMG_4388a

Cook 3 to 5 minutes on medium heat.

Pour in teriyaki sauce (1/2 c. shoyu, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 Tbsp. mirin and 2 cloves crushed garlic, salt and pepper (I actually forgot the salt and pepper). Cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.IMG_4397a

I cooked it for longer after this shot and my beans got all shriveled up! That's why Wendell usually does the cooking and not me. Still was ono though.IMG_4404a

I love spam and string beans. We usually make it with onion, spam, string beans, and the right amount of shoyu. It's an easy recipe.

I didn't realize it was so easy mmiissee. Wasn't sure how to slice the beans though. Seems like maybe I shoulda sliced um thinner. Didn't matter in the end though 'cause I overcooked it anyway.

Les, spam is one of my favorite things. That and vienna sausage.
