Real Word Magazine celebrated its first anniversary by hosting a dinner at the Hawaii Convention Center this past Friday. Guests included entertainers, artists, photographers, educators, writers, conservationists, entrepreneurs and other "real people" who have been featured in the magazine. Thanks to my trusty camera, I got to mix and mingle with some of them. I was pretty much in awe the whole night, not quite believing this awesome opportunity given me because of my association with the magazine.
Leslie, my bestest buddy and my "date", now knows how intimidating it is to carry around and use a camera amongst PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS!

Wow, very cool!
nice pickchaz as usual. questions: wuz jill dare cuz she's an artist or just a guest? as a reporter? and how did bruce make u cry again? btw, geralyn's shots (on her site) are pretty impressive!
Erick, every once in awhile I gotta pinch myself.
Rand, Jill was there as a guest. Her words were in the Makua edition of the magazine. Bruce shared his story of foresaking his career as an engineer to pursue his love - photography. He spoke of the hurt of rejection. And he spoke with emotion on how his photo gracing the cover of one of the magazine's issues validated to him his worth as a photographer. Geralyn is not just an awesome photographer, her spirit in everything she does and is touches me. BTW, you know those Polynesian Cultural Center buses with the unreal HUGE photos on them? That's Arna Johnson's!!
How come you failed to mention that u recieved a plaque and was recognized at the convention AND had your face up on the 'big screen'!! WOW! FINALLY! U deserve it!
Thanks CQ! But I'm kinda "unwordy" . . . but wait . . . I will be "wordy" some day . . . "real wordy". Hahahaha! I crack myself up sometimes!
Jalna, Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos. You are definitely NOT a wanna be. My daughter in law is Lauren Kihara Pokipala. Her mom Kanani is related to you. Small world@
OMG Sheree, Lauren's dad is my cousin Dennis Kihara!! Thank you so much for your kind words. Congratulations on making the cover of the current Real Word issue. I looooove your work . . . absolutely beautiful!
Great pictures and congratulations on receiving your plaque. You are going to have to change your status on your blog. You are definitely not a wanna be photographer.
Thanks Betty! Hope you're feeling better.
