We saw this caterpillar while at a blueberry farm in Japan. I just now learned that they're toxic. I'm glad we didn't touch it. You can learn more about it here.

J, so glad Hawaii doesn't have the bugs and animals of other states and countries. I see pixs of eagles and other raptor birds carting away small dogs and kittens. I see mountain lions stalking people, effects of poison ivy, poisonous snakes, and so many stinging bugs. I know it's nature and it's their natural instinct and I don't dislike them for it. It just is. They all serve a purpose in nature. But I don't have to like it. Lucky I live in Hawaii. -N

if I’m not mistaken these are called kemushi because they are hairy, thought they only made you itchy, didn’t realize they are toxic!
