My Pasta Salad

Look what I made! Hoo hoo! Was ono.

I learned something about broccoli.  I just zapped fresh broccoli in the microwave for around 10 seconds and it came out perfect for the salad.

This is at Aina Haina Foodland.  I never paid much attention to this Olives and Antipasti bar before.

In fact, I often wondered what people did with all those olives.

The other day I decided to get this olive tapenade to enhance my pasta salad. Glad I did. It totally works.

I got some of this artichoke hearts too.

I got this from Ross last week.  I really like it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any more on my Tuesday Ross run yesterday. I did find it at Foodland on sale 2/$7.00.

I used this dressing from Whole Foods.  It's perfect for me . . . very mild. I don't remember the price, but I think it was under $5.

love pasta salad! love your idea about using olive tapenade!
What was the name of that restaurant, there was one in Ward Center and one at Kahala Mall that had really good pasta salad year ago? I used to try to copy that - had broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery, red onion, etc.

Good looking salad! Over my job level, though. I get packaged salad and pour dressing.

Looks yummy! I've been thinking of pasta salads a lot recently because it's been so warm. It's going to be a hot summer!

Whoa, that's a nice looking salad. Ya, kinda overkill on the olives. OK, 10 seconds micro waving broccolli.

Izsmom, the cheese is sharp cheddar too!

V, can't remember the restaurant you're talking about. Shucks.

Aunty, not even. LOL.

Anon, I agree about the heat.

Chet, sometimes I add a spoonful of water to the bowl of broccoli before zapping.

Kat, thanks.

As always, great tips! I dislike raw broccoli too so knowing I can zap it in micro is so much better than having to blanch in water!

Can’t ever go wrong with pasta salad! I haven’t seen pasta in our Ross, maybe I need to go as soon as they open. Did you know our Ross opens at 6 am and closes at 1 am? I’ve gone at 6 am many times and there’s a crowd at the door. Some ppl run in once the doors are opened and they have to be told to stop running. It’s hilarious, but I think they run in and hoard all the good stuff. 😂

Jenny, I was kinda surprised that zapping it worked.

V, YUM YUM TREE!!!

Susan, Ross is my favorite store! Do you have just one? We have so many, I don't even know the count.

We have 2 now. We need one in the south. 😊

j: you going more vegan these days? how is the Keto diet helping your two guys? -N

jalna said...

Susan, that's great!

N, we're not on Keto anymore . . . the guys especially. But Wendell is doing good healthwise. He tries to get in 10,000 steps a day and for dinner he usually has just a Shaklee shake. Me? I eat eggs, cheese, seafood and too much carbs. Spam came back into my life when I ate one of Honolulu Aunty's spam musubi's and realized how much I was missing in life. LOL.
