Before you get all excited . . . no, I don't have the recipe for this . . . wish I did. I buy this eggplant dish from Keeaumoku Market . . . all the time. As soon as I run out, or even before I run out, I replenish my supply. I just love, love, love it. And for some reason ever since I discovered it, it's always been "On Sale" for $4.99/pound.
I tried making it once. I totally failed . . . wasn't even close.
I think it is Keeaumoku Supermarket Didi. It's across from HMSA. The eggplant dish is in that buffet spread with plastic covers over um, by that mochi that I like. Can you figure out the ingredients for me please? I hope still going have some left at my house when you come tomorrow.
Hi Jalna, I love Korean banchan and I want to try this. Google "Korean eggplant banchan". After comparing several recipes it pretty much looks like they use similar ingredients.
I tried it! It was really ono! I also tried their gobo - like kimpira gobo but cut fat and more saucy, very ono! And their mushrooms - not sure how they make them, but really ono! And their shredded daikon that has sprigs of Chinese parsley - really ono and SPICY! Tried their pink white green rainbow cake and that was the only non-ono thing that I got. It was like a really bad colorful sponge. I love that market! Thanks for sharing.
I went all out because I was bringing it to poker night with friends - easier than cooking! When I opened it, Pal Fay said - "Oh, that's the eggplant dish that Jalna blogged about!" See, you're famous already. I wonder how many people buy it because of your picture and review?

Looks good. How you eat that...over rice? Spicy?
Waibu, it's just a little bit spicy. It's more of a side dish than a main one. And yes, I eat it with too much rice.

Susan, I'm gonna try to make it one more time. I tried once before and failed miserably. It wasn't even close.

Hooo Honolulu Aunty, you went all out. I really, really like the mushroom too. I'm gonna try the other stuff you recommended next time. Thanks!
