I made um last night!! I picked the first recipe from here, mostly because it seemed to be the easiest and except for the anise extract, I had all the ingredients already.
Looks good yah! Well . . . this one was actually the best-looking one of the batch.
I found the anise extract at Safeway. It was 6 bucks for 1 ounce!
The dough turned out thicker than I expected. It wasn't at all like waffle or pancake batter.
I dalloped it on like this . . . at first wondering whaaaa??? . . . is that right?
It cooked really fast . . . I counted . . . 62 seconds. Initially, I thought it wasn't enough, . . . they looked too pale, so I left them on for 10 seconds longer after the green light came on.
After tasting one though, I decided that the 62 seconds was just right. My iron didn't cook the pizzelles evenly, but they taste good. For $3, I thought it did a great job. I'll be making more . . . it was easy.
I have one similar to this one and havent made any in eons.. seeing yours makes me want to make some.
You should try making ice cream cones soon, you just need a cone mold, its a cone shaped roller with a handle. Simply wrap it around the form after its out of the press.
Or then again you can just add slices of ice cream inbetween the pizelles.
Thanks Anon. I like look for a cone mold now . . . good idea. Landon made some rolls and spooned some custard and whipped cream in the middle. They were ono.
Kat, I just happened to see a picture on your blog of your mom's pizzelle!! What a coincidence!
OMG Didi!
You're welcome Mich.

Funny Erick!
It tastes like licorice, Shun Wah. Strange yah . . . in a cookie . . . but somehow it works.
Wow ... great job!!! They look sooo ono and pretty ... just like snow flakes. I do remember the dough being thick, unlike pancake batter. I don't recall using anise extract in my recipe. How does it taste with the anise?

Thank you for the samples! Was really ono!
Good job Jalna! These were yummy!! :)
So cheap, what a deal. I like how you made those uneven edges, so artistic.
WOW..looks really good.. but what does that Anise extract taste like?
Ohhh Kevin, that sounds awesome.

Thanks Renee. The anise smell was really strong as the pizzelle was cooking, but the flavor in the cookie itself is very subtle.
Cool. I didn't know those could be homemade! You should make them into ice cream sandwiches.
Mariko, Wendell had them with ice cream last night!!
ooooooh that looks GOOD!
Grace, it's so easy, I've made it twice already!
