It's been a little over a year since I retired, and it's been just wonderful. In my first year of retirement I made sure that I'd go out every day even if it was for just a short, quick outing. This year I find myself being quite content with just staying at home. I do have volunteer work, art class and an occasional trip out "into town", but for the most part I just chill at my craft desk. And I like it. At the start of 2019 I began a Sketch a Day journal.
This sketch book that I got at the swap meet turned out to be perfect for my project.
I mostly use books from my growing collection for reference.
From The Art of Coco.
The Art of The Croods.
The Art of Totoro.
The Art of Brave.
The Art of Howl's Moving Castle.
The Art of Kung Fu Panda 3.
The Skillful Huntsman. You might notice the date. Yah, I'm ahead of myself.
This character is also from the book. I did a miniature watercolor painting of him on scrap watercolor paper that I didn't want to throw away because I'm so chang. I've been trying to paint more loosely and not so coloring-bookish, but to tell you the truth . . . I still don't know what I'm doing.
Oh, you are getting better and better!!! Already you are SO good!
The Hawaii Stitchery and Fibre Arts Guild (long name, I know) is having Esther Nowell come next month, March 6 at Linekona Art School (diagonally across from Honolulu Museum of Art) do a presentation on her travel journals. Meeting will probably be upstairs and start at 7:00 pm. Come! Free and open to anybody.
