Party Mix

Wendell and his work crew go to Masa's Cafeteria a lot.  The other day one of the ladies there gave Wendell a bag of Chex Party Mix that she had made.  When Wendell got back to the office, he put the chex mix on their break table. It was already the end of the day by then, so the bag pretty much remained untouched.

Guess what happened. The next day, the bag was gone. Somebody wen swipe the whole thing. For real!!  They never even got to eat one single piece. How can, yah?

I felt bad when Wendell told me about what had happened. I decided to make some party mix for them, even though I only made it once before a loooong time ago.  I called and asked my mom if she still had the recipe from Sweetie's ex-boyfriend's mom.  It was a favorite back then.  She still had um!  It's called Snicken Snack and it's very simple.

Instead of Chex and Cheerios I used Crispix, Bugles and Fritos (me and Wendell just bought what was on sale). Longs had sale on the Chex, but was sold out when Wendell went.

Here's the recipe.  I think next time, maybe no need the oil.

1 box Cheerios
1 box Wheat Chex
1 box Rice or Corn Chex
2 pkg. pretzels
2 mixed nuts (12 oz.)

Melt together
4 tsp. Beau Monde
3/4 c. oil
2 blocks butter

Bake at 200 to 250 degrees for 2 hours. Mix every 15 to 20 minutes.

I know you're wondering "What's Beau Monde?"  Here it is.  I found it at Safeway.

You're welcome, Renee. I've made a couple of batches after this one, and I modified the recipe a little. I use less of the Beau Monde (1 1/2 tsp.) and I add in 3 tbs. Worcestershire Sauce and 1 tsp. garlic powder.
