Nijiya Market

Nijiya Market just opened up in Puck's Alley at the corner of King and University. They specialize in food with gourmet Japanese ingredients, fresh fish, meats, organic produce, fruits and natural ingredients. Their kitchen is always preparing fresh sushi, sozai and other prepared foods daily. I'm quoting from the free magazine they offer, Gochiso, Ultimate Japanese Gourmet Magazine. If you go there, be sure to pick one up; got interesting articles and plenty recipes.
Sushi,
sashimi,
and bento, bento, bento.
The egg in this one caught my eye. It's a Korean-style "bibinba". If I wasn't so full already, I probably would have bought this one. I never saw so many different kinds of ice tea before.
The Kobe "style" beef all had that marble-y look.

Hanamaru Restaurant - 8/22/2008

My mom and I went to Hanamaru in Puck's Alley for lunch.

This is how it looks when you first enter. There are private rooms to the right. My mom ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and it came with a salad with miso dressing. It was very tasty.

It came with miso soup too.
I ordered the "Noodle Salad lunch" and wasn't sure what I would end up with. I was happy that it turned out to be a somen salad with sesame dressing. It was HUGE and I ate every bit of it. It was really refreshing.

My Mom and Friends - 8/21/2008

The first class reunion my mom ever went to was her 50th reunion. I'm so glad she did, 'cause now she gets to hang around with some of her classmates every once in awhile at Makai Marketplace food court. I think she has fun there.

Augie T

Augie T was the MC at Jen and Jayson's wedding on August 16th. I felt compelled to create a separate blog entry just to show off his facial expressions. He was hilarious.

Jen and Jayson Wedding 8/16/2008

Jen and Jayson got married yesterday. It was my biggest wedding as "official" and I was very, very nervous. The bridal couple couldn't have been kinder or sweeter. Thank you Jen and Jayson for being so patient. Thank you to Jen's mom, Charlene, for giving me this opportunity. And thank you, thank you, thank you to Erick and Susie. No way could I have done it without your help. I shall remain forever grateful.
