MARK! MARK! Wendell made the kalua pig! THANK YOU for sending me the link to the recipe! It was the best kalua pig I ever ate! Here's the link: La Fuji Mama
Here are some remnants left in the slow cooker. I was small-kine late in getting my picture, and you know Wendell . . . he ain't waiting around for me to get my shot. Right from the pot, it might've been a little bit on the salty side. But Wendell added it to some cabbage anyway, so it ended up being perfect.
Looks great! I tried to make this years and years ago. Had to buy liquid smoke...and also put the cabbage. I could live on this...but I guess pork not the healthiest.
I normally put my pork butt or shoulder in the crock between 10pm and midnight. Depending on if it's starting out frozen or thawed. I start the crock on high to heat up faster. Then turn it down to low just before going to bed. So it slow cooks on low all night long, and it's ready by lunch time.
I let my pig sit in the crock all afternoon and keep snacking all day long! While doing projects around my house. It keeps me motivated! ; )
Yummers....!
Don't forget da smoke flavor! There is a variety of taste. This is one of many I use.
Cool recipe, I am going to try this. I always wanted to make porchetta too, I might use their recipe. Thanks for sharing, thanks for the ono candy and thanks for the over one year old thank you card. Ha ha
I'm definitely gonna try this! Were you able to snag the trader joes salt too? Crap, Randy just came back from Vegas, he coulda grabbed us some bags :(
Last night I put a 3 pound pork shoulder in my crock. Because I had chores to do around the house. It keeps me motivated. So it's been very fun snaking all day long with my cabbage and rice.
I try to buy the smallest cuts now, because my kids are grown and gone and I live alone. So I don't need massive quantities of food anymore.
But I wanted to share with you what I do after I get tired of just eating pig off my plate, next to my rice and cabbage.
For my leftovers, I break out the bread and make a pulled pork BBQ Sandwich!
I use whatever bread I have in my fridge. Sometimes I use hamburger buns, hot dog buns, sour dough rolls. Sourdough sandwich sliced bread.
Just load your bread with pulled pork. Top it off with your favorite BBQ sauce....and a short time heat up in your microwave! And instant yummie pulled pork sandwich!
Depending on how I feel, sometimes I add some veggies and even pepper jack cheese that melts a bit in the micro.
You can't beat this for a quick leftover sandwich snack!
And it makes a new twist on your crock pot Kalua Pig! ; )
thanks for today

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I totally busted out laughing, Erick! Hey! I don't get to see you anymore. Better late than never, right?
Les, I don't think I ever tried Trader Joe's salt. Or maybe I did and I don't remember. Nowadays, my memory sucks.
Going to Vegas next month. Planning on hitting up Trader Joe's. What kind of salt?
Anon, is that you, Mich? I don't need salt, but I'll ask Leslie.
