Japan 2015 - Day 13 - Hiroshima

April 19, 2015: Yamada-ya Manju Factory, Hiroshima Peace Memoral Museum

Breakfast this morning was again a Japanese/American buffet.

We had an omelet chef!

I loved this custard tart.

This was my breakfast. Notice the salad. Seemed kinda strange to have a salad for breakfast, but at this point I felt like it was the right thing to do.

This is Sweetie's.

After breakfast me and Sweetie took a quick stroll on the grounds of the Hiroshima Museum of Art which was right across the street from our hotel.

This being a Sunday, we wondered if the school children had to attend school seven days a week. We noticed kids dressed like this on Saturday too.

Here's the outside of our awesome hotel.

Our first stop on this day was the Yamada-ya Manju Factory in Hatsukaichi.

We first sat down to watch a video showing how the manju was made. I do believe that watching the video alone woulda been sufficient, but Mr. Yamada chose to stop the video at intervals to further explain the process.

Then we got to watch the action.

After visiting the factory we continued on to Miyajima Island. Those photos will be in my next post.

In the afternoon we visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. Although originally not scheduled on our tour, our guide kindly added it on for those of us who were interested.

The sign below says that the A bomb exploded 600 meters above the ground, generating a fireball instantaneously. The red ball shows the fireball (280 meters in diameter) one second after the explosion.

I was happy, happy that the custard tart was again being served.

I stayed at Japanese style inn by the Peace Park several years ago. I strolled through the park in the morning, so quiet, calm and sad.

Your plate looks great! I love the manju too.

It was raining a little bit on our morning stroll, so it made the mood quite sad too, Akemi.
