Fleeting Sunset

I took this photo back in November.  I caught it just in time . . . a few seconds later it was gone.

J: what kind of camera and did you use any special settings. It's gorgeous. I take lotsa sunsets and yes, you gotta take it quick cuz in 5 minutes it changes or disappears -N

Thanks N! My camera is a Canon 5D Mark II. I shot this photo at 1/80 shutter speed at f3.5. I used my 16-35mm lens. It's a really good lens that lets in a lot of light. I think that's key.

We've been getting some great sunsets, but I'm often too late by the time I get my camera out and the screen off my window. This photo is spectacular! Ironic that vog gives us some great sunsets too, even though I hate vog.

Jalna, I whish I could somehow share my 4x4 outback travel pics with you. You would just love them! And you would see things that you have never even seen or imagined. I drive for miles and days out on the old west dirt trails, and many of these are original old west miners wagon trails from the 1800's, to get to very special places. Old west ghost towns and mining sites. Beautiful views are my specialty, I just love the high ground for the views!

It's my hobby. 4x4 exploration and outdoor photography.

See if this link works....it's to one of my online travel pic sites. Scenic WonderRunner is my clever online screen name for my 1988 Toyota 4Runner. I have thousands more pics than at this one link, going back 10 years of outback exploring.

Kay, sometimes when I'm in the house and in front of my computer, I see the change of color within my room that tells me to go outside to check out the sky.

I was lucky, Kat.

Those Old West photos are amazing, Mark! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Les.

Me too, Susan!!

Thanks Jalna,

All of those pics and trips represent days and hours of 4x4 expeditions in the outback! And hours of photography and getting the light and the shot just right.

It's no easy task. Or one day trip. It's very hard work, especially bouncing all day and night in my Toyota 4Runner on the trails! But I just love it! It's my passion!

It must be beautiful in real life, Mark!
