Kuromame Natto!!!

Whaaa!!!!  I know . . . I never knew either.  A few days ago Geri mentioned that the natto that she liked at one of the breakfast buffets was BLACK.

I got this at Nijiya Market on Kona Street.  I haven't tried it yet. Stay tuned.

what a glutton for punishment! Nah, I actually learned to eat natto recently. My favorite brand has a red wrapping with a huge sakura blossom. If the sliminess was what turned you off, there's no way you'll like any natto, even though the foamier and slimier, the more healthful! You're suppose to stir it something like 400 times for maximum benefits. There's an exact number but I can't remember it.

Aaaack, Jenny . . . eating slime.

Awww . . . Anon, you just learned to eat it recently? So lucky that you like it.

It is wasabi, Didi . . . instead of the mustard.

LOL, funny, Susan!!

Hi Jalna: we're classmates from Kaimuki so I stumbled across your blog, but prefer to be on the downlow for now (not too trusting of the internet). Call me N. (I did remember you when I saw your pix - you still look as young as you were in HS)

Anywayz thanks for the hamburger stew recipe, tried it tonite and it was delish.

I'm not a natto eater but my mom eats it 3x a week. What she uses for the mustard is a hot honey american mustard they sell at the stores. Don't know the name but it has a smiling cartoon bear on the front of it. Because some of them don't have that mustard packet. She also adds green onions and stirs it a LOT.

Those birds as you know by now are Bulbuls. I love birds but none of them tap on our windows. Instead they chose our house as a hospice for their final days :(

Hey N!!! I'm tickled that you're reading my blog. And thanks for taking the time to comment! I'll look for the smiling bear mustard next time I'm at the market. Sounds good. So sad about the birds, but I'm glad they chose your house.

There's a song, Les . . . it goes, "Try, try, tryyyyy". LOL.

I hope you love natto by now. Natto is good for your health despite of the slimy appearance.
