I attended the 2010 Special Olympics Aukake Classic event today. The Classic features soccer and bocce competitions. I might go back again tomorrow so I'm holding off posting the pictures until then. For now you get The Sky and Stan.
It was pretty much overcast all morning with slight drizzles which helped with the heat.
This is Stan Chun, a fellow Eyes of Hawaii Club member and a very devoted Special Olympics photographer. I so admire his devotion and dedication to the Special Olympics organization. He is pretty much a regular fixture at all of the events, easily recognizable by his usual getup - great cover-up clothing, two Nikon cameras, one on a Bogen monopod with a big black looooooong lens.

that is one massive lens!
Didi, this is like my third time shooting SO bocce and I'm still not sure about the game. Basically, a team consists of two members who roll balls down a grass alley. The goal is to see who can get the closest to a small little ball.
Kat, it is hayuge.
Rand, you know Stan!
Hey, I know that guy. He always bring a bazooka of a lens. He is a great photographer!
I haven't seen any of his photos yet, but I'm guessing he IS a great photographer.

Sounds like him, Rand.
Hey, you should send this to Stan. I'm sure he has a similar shot of you.. except your lens will dwarf in comparison! ha! ha! I've taken photos w/ him at the Special Olympics softball w/ his super lens!
Hahaha, Shun Wah you're right. He probably clicked his shutter at the same time as me.
