This is where we sistahs had lunch on Saturday. Leony's Filipino Restaurant recently took over the site of Pho My Duyen which was formerly known as Sam and Syd's which was formerly known as Elena's on King Street. Elena's had been our go-to place for filipino food, and we continued to enjoy the fare when Sam and Syd's took over. Pho My Duyen was often hit or miss depending on the cook, but because we enjoy filipino food so much we took our chances and still went frequently. Unfortunately, when the freshness of the ingredients became questionable (I'm being nice here), we totally stopped going. When Sweetie mentioned that there was a new owner at our previously favorite restaurant, there was no question where we would be eating lunch on Saturday.
We were excited and very hopeful. We ordered all of our favorite dishes.
Fried Pork ($11.99)
Crispy Pata ($13.99)
Shrimp Sarciado ($12.99)
Sari Sari ($10.99)
Pancit (on the house)
The food was a bit slow in coming out, and to be honest everything except the pancit (which was really good) coulda used a bit more patis (fish sauce), but I'm pretty sure we'll be going back again.
Here's something else that we got from Ohana Hale Marketplace . . . Ginger Lemon Iced Tea. It was from Fancy Fresh Food Shop and was $5.00 for the large size. I tasted Geri's and it was so refreshing that I got one for myself before leaving.
Me and Da Sistahs went shopping yesterday. I mostly went for the exercise. But what I didn't know was that we would end up in Ohana Hale Marketplace at Sticky Sweets sharing the best dessert in the history of mankind.
Banana Bread Pudding Ala Mode!! At a whopping $8 it's totally worth the money and totally worth the calories.
A couple of years ago I bought a fancy bowl for Kona. It's designed so that he would eat his food more slowly. You can check it out here if you like. Kona will be 13 years old next month. He just had his yearly vet visit, and everything checked out okay, but lately has been needing some coaxing to eat his meals. So while I was at City Mill yesterday looking at their clearance deals (thanks Honolulu Aunty), I bought him a regular bowl. Never mind the other one already.
Dolls can be kinda creepy, especially when they're realistic, but I find it so intriguing that twin sisters from Russia who look alike, dress alike and talk alike work together to produce these dolls which are highly-valued works of art.
I had lunch with Cleta last week at Goma Tei. At first we didn't notice this HUGE sign posted and had ordered ramen instead. Luckily, because of Cleta's fast thinking she was able to stop the order before it reached the kitchen.
We both ordered the Won Ton Soup, and it was goooooood.
The pieces were big and the broth mild yet flavorful. I would totally order this again.
