Hawaii Daiso

Hawaii Daiso:  Where 100 yen = $2.25.

I spent $72 for 29 items.  😳.  I was kinda shocked.  Didn't think that it would add up to that much.  But yah . . . 2 items would already be $4.50 and I had one item that was $8 . . . so $72!

At a Daiso in Japan with the current exchange rate, maybe this woulda cost 20 bucks?

Everything in Hawaii is so expensive, even when on sale.

I still haven’t made my way to Daiso here.

Notice how the store is not as crowded nowadays? I only go once in a great while because $2.25 for something that is 75¢ in Japan makes me a bit nuts. However, some things are still a bargain even with the raised prices. However, imagine, if you went 10 times to our local Daiso stores and bought $72 worth of stuff each time, you could buy a roundtrip ticket to Japan and back, and bring back 2 suitcases full of 75¢ Daiso stuff for about $200. That is my dream trip.

Yah, I went to City Mill after and the fly swatter there was $1.99. You're right. Gotta stay aware.

Are the reasons for the jump in prices at Daiso due to tariffs ??? It's not because of the Hawaii cost of living as there has also been a steep jump in Daiso's prices here in Seattle.
