Hawaiian Chili Pepper Plant Update

The leaves on a bunch of my plants became discolored, mostly at the veins.

Then the leaves dropped off.  I think I over-fertilized them.  Maybe plants this young shouldn't even be fertilized yet.  Bah.  Not sure.

Luckily, some of my other plants were spared.  So far.  At any rate I'm gonna try and start another batch of seedlings.

Are these the pepper plants? Some still look healthy.

Hmmm. That looks like some kind of parasite - spider mites or another creepy creep. There is this plant genius at Koolau Farms on Beretania who works on Sunday. I think his name is Jason, or Justin - well starts with "J" anyways. He can diagnose your problem if you take a leaf in and show him. Good luck and good growing! My chili plant (thank you) went to my friend Alana (Esther's friend) because she saw it in my car and gushed over it. It is in very good hands with her green thumbs.

Might want to take that leaf to your local lovely Hawaiian landscaper/nursery. Looks a bit like a bug, but certainly not a Golden bite. I visited the Kauai nursery a couple of times on my visits and they were most helpful. Even told me when to move/transplant some hardy hibiscus I got from them. Whitefly is the bane of some hibiscus plants. Linda in Kansas, yep, I got some Kauai root plants to grow in Kansas, even staying outside over our winters.

Good to know about Jason/Justin!! If I get the chance, I'll try take a leaf over. You're welcome for the plant! Glad it's in good hands!

yah, that's some kind of virus. There's a systemic liquid that treats from the roots up and safe to used on edibles. Kills and treats all kinds of infestations.
